First Impression: Gin no Saji: Silver Spoon

The only reason I'm excited as fuck for this show is because it's produced by A-1 Pictures. I hope this show can somewhat compensate for what is lacking in Servant x Service. On top of that, this is the only show that is featured in noitaminA for this season. That should be a good sign, isn't it?

My first impression was Moyashimon. That's what this show reminds me of during the first few seconds what with the agriculture theme going on. However, it is in my opinion, more enjoyable. Or maybe I'm just biased as fuck because it's my favorite studio that is producing it XD

err... yeah, don't asked about the fanart. I just thought Hachiken looks cute as a trap

Anyhoo, it's about Hachiken who enrolled to a agriculture school just because it's a boarding school and doesn't want to go home. The other students have either ambition that has something to do with agriculture or simply taking over their family business. He has zero knowledge on agriculture and expected to ace the normal subject. I LOL'd when he called the others dumb but when they started to talk about science, he was left eon's behind.

Seemingly Hachiken has trouble adapting to farm life especially when he has problem eating an egg when he found out that it comes from the anus (technically it's called cloaca). However, it seems like the farm life suits him best. He has four team members that are pretty helpful too.

I love the comedic part and the plot is definitely something that most of us aren't familiar with, unless of course if you are into agriculture. I think it's fresh and appreciate the fact that they weren't pretentious about it. It showed how hard the farmers/agriculture people work for us to get all the food on our table.

Thank you A-1 Pictures for fulfilling my expectation for this show. I enjoy it a lot and this one is going to stay in my must watch list.

Another anime that looks like it was made just for lolicon. But I won't judge it badly just yet simply because I have a slight hope that the comedy will actually be good. Let's just hope they won't disappoint me, yeah?

There's nothing funny or comedic about the show. It was cute and moe all around which is definitely not my thing at all. Less than 10 minutes in, I was already at the edge of my seat ready to flip my computer LOL

So yeah, dropping this before it causes damage.

The animation was good though. They tried very hard to capture the English spirit. Oh and the seiyuu must have work hard to speak all those English lines as fluently as they can.

This show is definitely for lolicon.

First Impression: Genshiken Nidaime

I put this show in my must watch list based on the the previous two seasons of Genshiken. I think this show is a must for anyone who considered themselves weaboo enough. It is after all a show about otaku in their elements.

still missing the old cast though

23 minutes passed by without me noticing it. That's what great anime is all about. Kudos Production I.G. for another superb anime.

I still get the old Genshiken vibes through the designs and characters so there's a continuity there that I appreciate. Even more so since the old familiar faces are still around, like Madarame and Sasahara. They are after all that created Genshiken.

Ogiue is the president of the club and her mission in this first episode is to find more members for Genshiken. The club already have Ohno, Kuchiki and Sue (I love it when she suddenly declared Ogiue as her waifu). Through her talent in drawing, Ogiue managed to get three more members. One of them is a crossdresser (trap). There are some issues regarding where should she changed and all that. Sue quickly solved the problem by sending Hato to Madarame whenever he wanna change since his house is only 5 minutes away.

I have no complains for this show. I enjoyed it as I have expected. Great stuff indeed.

First Impression: Servant x Service

This show is automatically in my MUST WATCH list simple because it's produced by A-1 Pictures. Why? Well, that's my most favorite studio, is why! But then again, there are several shows from this studio that I dropped like Oreimo for example because there's character that I cannot tolerate in it.

Servant x Service sounds just like a show that I will try to avoid. In my head, anything that has the word servant and service in it's title has ecchi written all over the plot. But I have faith in the studio. Even if there are fan services, I hope they remain classy.

And I was right. The only fan service you'll get is the bouncing of melons. I'm okay with that.

But the plot is weak. Too weak. The animation was average too. It somewhat doesn't really feel A-1 Picture-ish. I expected something more... well-developed.

It's about this three characters being employed at civil service office, with their hopeless supervisor. Each has personality of their own: Lucy wants revenge because of her name (like I said, weak plot is weak), Miyoshi is timid, Chihaya is stoic, Ichimiya is somewhat useless imo and Hasebe to liven up the dull office. Nothing much going on. Hopefully they'll develop some romance between Lucy and Hasebe along the way but I doubt it.

You know that a show is average as fuck when you can't find any fan made drawings of them. Mediocre is a pretty fitting word to describe this show.

But because it's A-1 Pictures, I'll try my best to keep up with it. I hope it won't get any stupider though.

First Impression: Joshiraku

I am giving this show an opportunity to impress me since it was produced by J.C. Staff. I hope it won't be another K-ON and turned out it is rather similar though feels completely different.

Joshiraku is about 5 girls who sorta work at some stand up (though they just sit down) comedy joint. Though the showed them performing their jokes (that I didn't get), most of the comedy comes from the "normal conversation" that they had backstage. It was random of fuck which reminds me of Nichijou and somewhat Lucky Star as well.

I don't feel right blaming the production studio about when I failed to find (some of) the jokes funny. Maybe it has to do with culture etc in order for the jokes to make sense, hence funny. But yeah, I guess I was pretty much lost.

I like the fact that all five girls are wearing haori. It's not often that we see such things in anime nowadays. I appreciate their effort to keep their culture alive. Having said that, I thought that they can do more with the whole art and animation. More expression perhaps?

The OP wasn't half bad but I thought that the ED was super cute with them being chibi and all and singing somewhat rap song.

Unfortunately, I don't think I will be watching this anytime soon which mean this show will go to my waiting list that grows longer every time the new season arrived. It wasn't impressive enough.

Oh well, at least it is not another K-ON!

First Impression: Chitose Get You!!

Chitose Get You! is another 3 minutes anime that aired this season and I wasn't so fond of the idea behind the story, especially since the way it was drawn, Chitose looks like a kindergarten kid to me than an 11 year old kid.

This show is about Chitose obsessing over her male teacher. This reminds me a lot of Hanamaru Youchien that was aired back in Winter 2009 and my opinion for such show still hasn't changed much. Even though there are some moments where I thought Chitose might made me laugh with her antics, the joke sorta fall short.


So I guess that's about it. My adventure with Chitose ends here. I don't have time to see an 11 year old kid getting horny.

First Impression: Kokoro Connect

When I did the preview for Summer, I was under the impression that Kokoro Connect will be about gender bender and honestly that what caught my interest about this show. I hope my expectation will be fulfilled and it is not just another generic slice of life anime that reminds me of K-ON.

Kokoro Connect is about five students who formed a Student Cultural Club because they don't belong or refused to be part of any of the existing club at their school. This show ain't about them having tea and have useless activities after school though (though that's pretty much what they are doing) but it's about them switching bodies with each others. 

Kokoro started out pretty normal except that it managed to intrigue me with the line of characters that they have prepared. Obviously these characters aren't your average one dimensional characters and that is probably one of the reason why I ended up so engrossed with the episode. It makes me want to see the characters layer by layer, to know what secrets do they have and to learn their inner thoughts. In that sense, I think that the production studios have successfully made this show somewhat mysterious.

I really like Inaba for the simple fact that she's tough which makes her a perfect pair for Taichi. Damn it there I go creating my OTP already.

The art and animation, as I have mentioned before in my preview, look a lot like K-ON but I am not going to complain about it. It wasn't a distraction or a minus point for me, in fact, I rather like it. Familiarity ain't always bad after all.

The first few minutes of watching Kokoro Connect kind of made me a bit melancholy. This kind of anime about friendship always hits me where it hurts. It made me misses my friends. It also makes me grateful that I accepted my old job back. Spending times with them boys have helped me through some tough shits.

This show is definitely going to be in my must watch list.

First Impression: Natsuiro Kiseki

I suspected that there is no in between for this show. It’s either I like it or I don’t. Judging from the synopsis from the preview, there are higher percentages that I would end up raging about it. However, I told myself not to jump into conclusion just by those few words of introduction. So far I ended up liking Sengoku Collection when I first thought that it would be shit. There’s the chance that this show might end up just like that, isn’t it?

The dorama started right of the bat with Natsumi and Saki fought while Rin and Yuka tried to reconcile them. These are four good friends who have been together since their fourth grade. They always wished upon a big rock at the temple and in attempt to make Natsumi and Saki friends again before Saki moves to Tokyo, Yuka and Rin gathered them around the big rock where they fought some more. Accidentally Rin wished that she could fly and apparently this wish was echoed by her friends. Before they knew it, they were indeed flying in the sky. It was kinda cool.

At first I thought that this show is just another idol anime but glad that it wasn’t just that. I like the fact that they put in some dorama and conflicts in the plot. It gave the show some depth that I found lacking in other idol anime, and AKB0048 was the latest example of that.

Oh wait, my mistake. This show is put under the slice of life tag >_>

The art and animation are decent with nothing actually stands out. The character designs could have been more creative. The girls each have different personality though they are kinda the typical archetype characters; Natsumi the leader, Saki the logical, Rin the quiet girl and Yuka the energetic. I personally like Yuka the best simply because of the positive energy she brings.

Since this show can be considered as an idol anime, naturally the songs have that idol feel to it. They are pretty good to be honest. I don’t find them obnoxious at all, like I did with AKB0048 songs. Urgh *shudders*

I am glad that I gave this show a chance. Turned out I did like it. I didn’t rage at all. Not even for a moment. It’s quite an accomplishment I must say.

First Impression: Uchuu Kyoudai

This show is better known as Space Brothers and though it has been several weeks since it was released (I remember downloading it before I went to Korea), it is only know that I have time to sit down and check out the show. I said in my preview that I look forward to watch this show (because it is produced by A-1 Pictures) but since horriblesubs named the torrent in English, I totally missed it. Orz.

Without further delay, let see if I am right about this being a good show that is worthy to be in my "must watch" list of anime this season.


Uchuu Kyoudai and A-1 Pictures definitely did not disappoint me. It is what I expected it to be and much more. The story is pretty simple; it revolves around two brothers who made promises to go to the moon and Mars when they grow up. Mutta is the older brother of the Nanba household and Hibito is the youngest. The two of them are pretty tight since their childhood days, always doing things together. As an older brother, Mutta always trying to be one step ahead of Mutta, which is how he ended up promising that he's going to Mars when Hibito said that he's going to the moon during the night they both saw UFO, which pretty much sparked this story.

The setup for this show is in the year of 2025. Naturally the boys are all grown up and Hibito is already an astronaut working with NASA in a mission to the moon. Mutta on the other hand just lost his job and unemployed after he butthead his employer when he made fun of Hibito. He was pretty lost with his purpose in life until Hibito helped him out by reminding him about the promise he mad when they were kid. He also (with the help from their mother) sent Mutta's resume to JAXA (Japan equivalent to NASA) which apparently is quite impressive because Mutta was accepted to be their next astronaut.

What I like about Uchuu Kyoudai is the realism about it. It was easy for Mutta to given up simply because he was born on a bad date but he never really take that as a set back but embraces it as part of his responsibilities as an older brother to stay focus and be one step ahead of his younger brother Hibito, who unlike him, was born during an auspicious day. This allow the show to open up a deeper discussion about destiny and personal attitude.

The art and animation for Uchuu Kyoudai are not really familiar to A-1 Pictures' other productions. Usually they produced really pretty and astounding animation but for Uchuu Kyoudai, they choose to be a minimalist. This can clearly be seen for the character designs that are lot less details than what they normally do, and less clean as well. Not that it's a bad thing though because even though they sort of look oldskool/nostalgic (that of BECK), it somehow works brilliantly with the concept. After all we are going back and forth to the past (1996 - 2006) and present (2025).

The art isn't the only thing that is nostalgic about this show. The OP and ED complimented that feelings really well. It is like the OP and ED were specifically chosen to resonate with the two protagonists. The oldskool rock of "Feel So Moon" OP definitely fits with Mutta while the more recent modern rock vibe can be detected in the ED of "This Wonderful World" by Gira Mundo which of course fits Hibito, the younger brother.

As for the seiyuu, can't say that I am a fan of Mutta's voice. I thought he sounds too old for his age. I'm not taking anything away from Hiroaki Hirata though. I am just saying that someone like Tomokazu Sugita would have been perfect playing the role of a mid 30's man. No complains for Kenn though. Hibito is rather perfect in every sense of the word, no?

This show is lot heavier and deeper than any other anime I've seen so far for Spring. It takes a fresh and realistic approach at the lives of two brother without any hidden undertone. I love the ideas of what they want the audience to experience by watching this show: of desires, choices and decisions that we made in our lives, and if they affected the path that we once chose as a child. It is also of hopes and dreams. Ain't that the beauty of being alive?

First Impression: Sakamichi no Apollon

Kids on the Slope is another anime that is featuring in noitaminA for Spring 2012, besides Tsuritama. It is a show that was setup in the year 1966 which is refreshing given that you won't see female students wearing mini skirts to school, and there are no fancy school uniforms. It is all back to basic.

Lets take a walk into the past, ladies and gentlewomen.

Since I have watched Tsuritama, I can't help but noticed the similarities between the two shows of noitaminA this season. They both deal with the protagonist having trouble adjusting to new school even though both are used to transferring from one school to the other, both has issues with panic attack and then making new friends through something that they have in common. In this show's case, it is music. Specifically jazz music.

But it doesn't necessarily means that it is a bad thing though because the way these two executed their story are very different indeed. While everything is bizarre in Tsuritama, it is quite the opposite for Sakamichi no Apollon. There is restrain and subtlety involved as they delved deeper in the bond that they are creating for these characters. It is more heart-felt in a way.

There is obviously connection made between Kaoru Nishimi and Sentarou Kawabuchi. You can already tell that much by their first encounter. It was too obvious to not notice the chemistry between these two. Sure, Nishimi went all red whenever Ritsuko said something cute but it wasn't her that cure him from having seizures/panic attack. Like he said, what kind of magic is that?

It's BL magic of course!

Nishimi keeps transferring school because his dad is a Marine officer and isn't around much so he has to stay with his relatives from time to time. He sorta looks up to his father and adores him. He plays the piano to fill in the emptiness in his heart whenever he missed his dad. His mom left them both which kinda affected Nishimi a little, if not much and the absent of his father doesn't help much either.

Kawabuchi is the class delinquent. Everyone is afraid of him except Ritsuko who knows him since they were children. He isn't bad, he is just misunderstood by his peers and the people around him. For example, just look at the way he treated Nishimi. He might be rough but that is just his style. He is good with drums and I have a weakness for the person behind the drums. I mean, I fell for Ritsu, didn't I? Just like Nishimi, I too was very impressed with the way he plays the drum. I can't wait to see him and Nishimi start playing jazz together.

I have to say that I am loving the old style art and animation which of course fits perfectly with this show. I have never heard of Tezuka Production before but I have to give credits to them for making everything about this show so good from the arts, animation to the seiyuu and most importantly the story itself. Kudos to Shinichiro Watanabe for the excellent directing as well. Those angles and camera shots during Kawabuchi's fight and Kawabuchi playing the drums... well, suffice to say that it made me fapped. Then again, this is to be expected. He is the same director that directed Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo after all... and those are masterpieces.

I who usually don't give a shit about the OP and ED, is certainly giving a shit now, especially with that ED. For some reason it touches my heart and believe it or not, I shed tears the first time I listened to it. For a foreign song that I don't know the meaning of the words are to do just that... brilliant indeed.

noitaminA has certainly made up for what they were lacking for the past couple of seasons. I couldn't be more grateful and this show is definitely getting my approval. I don't care how fucking busy I am, I will make sure that I won't be missing these two shows from noitaminA.

First Impression: Yurumates 3D

I had to go back and read my review for Yurumates OVA that I watched many moons ago. I did remember enjoying the show at that time though so naturally I hope the good feelings will continue with this TV show as well.


Unlike the OVA however, the TV show only last for 3 minutes (including OP!) for each episode which is too short for me but given my situation, I guess it was good news. I know I can spare at least 3 minutes for anime watching time.

The TV show starts with introductions of the characters. I appreciate it since it helps me jog my memory of the OVA but it all seems too familiar. Did they pretty much repeat the whole thing and divided the 35 minutes OVA into little segments of 3 minutes episodes? I sure hope not!

Well, there's nothing much to say about a 3 minutes show, is there? You could read my review for the OVA since what I think of the arts/seiyuu/animation still stands.

If there is a cicada episode in between this TV shows, then I know for sure that they really just divided the OVA into segments and that will disappoint me greatly.

Until then, I'll enjoy this while I can :)

First Impression: Poyopoyo Kansatsu Nikki

In real life, I am not fond of cats. I think they are annoying and their shit smell like shit. But there are cats that I am fond of, especially those from the Nyanpire. Just like Nyanpire, this show is supposed to be only 3 minutes long per episode and featured a round cat that supposedly to be the cutest ever. We'll see what I think about that in few minutes...

And well... nope. Definitely not the cutest thing ever. I don't give a fuck how round the cat is. This show has nothing to offer. It wasn't even remotely funny.

Poyopoyo Kansatsu Nikki is about a round cat that Moe Satou found on the night where she slept on the street because she was too drunk. So she adopted the cat and Poyo quickly becomes part of the family. As expected this show evolve around Poyo and I failed to see what is so interesting about it.

It was too chaotic as they tried to cram to many shit in that 3 minutes of airing time. The characters were pretty much a cliche Japanese family we have seen so many times in anime before. A strict dad, a spinster for a sister and a kid brother that Poyo has something against.

I guess the only thing that's good (for me at least) is the fact that we didn't have that lackluster ED of Nyanpire included. Eh wait, is there even an OP? I couldn't remember.

With that said, I wouldn't continue watching this shit even if I can spare 3 minutes. I just might end up raging every week and I don't want that.

First Impression: Daily Lives of High School Boys

Besides Another, Daily Lives of High School Boys or Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou is the other Winter season anime that I have high hopes for for the simple reason that Tomokazu Sugita is cast for one of it's main protagonist. I am a big fan of him and he is the reason why I become a seiyuu fag so naturally I will watch anything that has him as one of the casts, no matter how small his role may be. The only recent show that he did/do is SKET Dance which he played the big role of making it such an enjoyable show for me.

So needless to say, I am super stoke to check this show out. I have a feeling that Sugita will be just as awesome as he usually is sprouting random shits that only his character can think of. Aight boys, without further ado, lets dig in =3

Less than a minute in, I knew I was right about this show; boys who ran holding bowl of soup on the way to school and met with robots flying down from the sky attacking their town. If that is not random, I don't know what is. Why? Because this is not a mecha anime. This show is categorized in slice of life genre and in our real life, there are no giants robot invading the earth. And random is always good in my book. Plus this show is directed by the same guy who did Gintama. If you didn't know how I feel about Gintama yet, you are retarded.

Danshiko (that's what this show is called in anime fandom) is a tale of three boys; Tadakuni, Hidenori Tabata and Yoshitake Tanaka who are friends and attending the same highschool. Just like Kimi to Boku, they have the serious boy and the other two who will do anything in their ability to annoy the living hell of the serious boy, in this case Tadakuni. But it wasn't always about that. We are going to witness their daily lives routines and the people they acquainted and interact with as well which added to the fun.

There are several segments in one episode that cover different topic which tickled my funny bones. I personally laughed my ass off during the skirt segments. I knew boys who actually did that, especially when there was a gullible boy around. Tadakuni fits that description to a T. These segments are even funnier because almost each of it was triggered or initiated by Hidenori. The segment of Hidenori and literary girl at the river bank was awesome too. It's quite a turning point for me personally to be honest because I realized that I found a replacement for Kyon and he even wears a megane. A crossover of Kyon and Gintoki is just the perfect man, if you know what I mean.

Some people might questioned that this is not what boys normally do in their daily lives, but I assured you that for someone who grew up around boys and is still surrounded by boys in daily life, boys really did do all these meaningless stuffs and talk about useless stuffs. That is what make them so fun to be around. Girls on the other hands are boring. They pretty much talked about cute boys and the latest fashion and being bitchy about everything. What's fun about that? For example when Yoshitake voiced his concern about the hair on his nipples, isn't that real as fuck?

Boku, Otaryman (OVA)

Boku, Otaryman is an adaptation of a manga with the same title. The OVA is a 35 minutes episode that was released in Winter 2010.

There are few segments in the episode. Some of them are just something that I have seen and definitely can relate to. The first one is him dealing with the rookie (a female) in his office. I found it hilarious because I know quite a few people who are just like him in real life. They just phailed at communicating without making themselves look like a pervert. The second one is about him having a three day weekend and the only thing he can think of is spending it at home - alone. LOL that's so me. And then there's him with his moe thingy. That reminds me of someone oh gosh T__T

The story itself is pretty much straight forward. There is nothing complicated about it. It is pretty much about a life story of an ordinary salaryman or to be exact, the life of the author of the manga, Yoshitani. The manga and thus this OVA can be considered as his autobiography. In real life he is working as a system engineer but is a little bit of an otaku as well.

As if to compliment the simple plot, the art and animation too is very minimal but for some reason I love it. It just work for Boku Otaryman. Maybe because I can relate to this show indirectly that makes this OVA acceptable. It isn't as funny as I thought it would be but thankfully the jokes gradually pick up towards the end. To be honest, this show just reminds me of certain qualities that I hate to see in a man. In a way, I think the slogan fits perfectly and best describes the show: "This is a story of a salaryman who has absolutely no possibilities for dreams, hopes or love". Unless they want to change then it truly is hopeless.

First Impression: Morita-san wa Mukuchi

I said I won't be watching this shit but since each episode is only 3 minutes long, I think I can take it. Besides it isn't bad at all. The episode just zoom passed you even before you realize what the shit is going on.


Morita-san wa Mukuchi is about a quiet girl who doesn't speak much. Morita Mayu was taught since early childhood to listen properly when people are talking to her and listen till they have finished what they wanted to say thus she grows up to be a great listener though in reality she doesn't pay much attention. Her mind does wanders around but people don't know that and they do not need to know.

I am not a fan of quiet girl. I like girl that is out there and who speaks what is in their mind hence I don't like Morita much. Like I said, I can endure this show only because it is only took 3 minutes of my time (that makes it 6 minutes if you count Nyanpire in) and the fact that the other characters that surround her make up for what she's lacking.

This show should be in the anishit list, just like I have predicted in my preview for Summer but because I am watching this shit, I'm gonna be a tad nicer and let it stay just outside the line of that list. If it makes one mistake, there's no doubt it will cross that fine line.

First Impression: Ikoku Meiro no Croisée

Ikoku Meiro no Croisée is a seinen adaptation of the original which is a good thing for me since I like seinen. I like josei even more but still I like it. I used to read seinen manga all the time until I quit reading manga last year.


The story took place in the 19th Century France. Yune is our female protagonist. I think she's 10 years old. She is in France for some reason following some hairy white ape back. That hairy white ape has a grandson name Claude (I thought his name is Oscar?) who owns a blacksmith store. I don't know what the rest of the story is but I guess it's about Claude and Yune trying to get use to each other. Yune does seems out of place and Claude has to get use to the Japanese culture that she brings with her. He's not very welcoming but soon that will change. This is also a story of Claude trying to bring back the glory of his store which has run for three generations.

It's funny that Claude and everyone else are supposedly converse in French and Yune is the only one who can speak and understand Japanese. And yet this show is done in Japanese with English sub. The irony.

And wait... I just learned that the hairy white ape is Oscar *facepalm*

This is the first first impression post I am doing for anime from Satelight. Considering that my eyes don't bleed at how bad the arts and animation is, I think they did a decent job. It should be since they aren't really inexperience. They did Basquash and Fairy Tail and even collaborate with Madhouse for Hellsing Ultimate. I am not sure what is wrong, whether I'm being too critical or the characters do indeed seem a tad different from the original. They are cute enough but I keep imagining Enma Ai in Yune shoes, and Ren as Claude, at how much more awesome the anime would be with design character like them. I can't say that I didn't love the kimono Yune is wearing though. Japan indeed has one of the best cultures and heritages in the world.

Having said that, this show is kinda too predictable for my liking. I will give it another episode or two and see if it picks up the pace otherwise, this could end up in the on-hold list for who knows how long. I have at least 75 shows in that list.

Nichijou Episode 0

Nichijou Episode 0 is the OVA for the TV series that is airing at the moment for the Spring 2011 season. I want to watch this since it first came out but I was too god damn busy with work and has been postponing it week after week. I can't procrastinate Nichijou any longer though. Glo convinced me that I need to watch this show for the funneh and before I could watch the TV series, I need to watch this one for obvious reason.

Nichijou translated to Everyday or My Ordinary Life so I assumed this is the perfect example for a slice of life genre (NOT). Nichijou also falls under the "comedy" and "school" tag according to MAL. I'm definitely one of the people who watch this for the comedy.

The arts are simplistic and used a lot of shading. It's not bad but it wasn't outstannding either like we used to get from Kyoto Animation. Same goes for the characters. They may not seem appealing appearance wise but they will charm you with their personalities. Or in my case, kinda get on my nerves. KyoAni once again aiming to provides cute, a little funny and random show for us. Recipe for disaster, in my opinion.

My favorite character is Sakamoto-san, the talking cat. He provides most of the lulz for me. Also, since no background story was provided, I was confused at first when I saw Nano. It was only after I looked her up that I learned that she's actually a robot who wants to be human, which explained the mechanism on her back. Yuuko is an airhead, Mai the typical silent character and Mio who reminds me of Kagami for some reasons, which means I don't like her that much.

I may not know any of the seiyuus but they did a decent job with the characters. None of them seems out of place and they embodied the characters' personalities perfectly which brings those characters to live. There's no OP, the BGM were OOK and the ED is kinda forgettable. It just the seiyuus humming some melodies.

After watching 22 minutes of the OVA, I have come to a conclusion. This show is kind of a cross over between Lucky☆Star and K-ON. The comedy is definitely Lucky☆Star oriented though most of the time they forgot to insert the jokes, while the plot (or the lack there of) reminds me of K-ON where a bunch of school girls seemingly enjoying their simple life without worries. So I am on a fence with this one. On one hand, I enjoyed Lucky☆Star, but on the other hand I was bored as fuck when it comes to K-ON.

Overall, they were trying real hard to live up to their title. It maybe their downfall because Daily Life are often boring as fuck. However, Glo did say that the OVA is not as funneh as the TV series. Maybe I ought to give it another chance?

Yes, I am watching K-ON!! for the same reason I watched Sora no Woto. And also for Ritsu. Lets just established the fact that I am gay for Ritsu.


The second season started off with Yui playing the guitar. Solo. So I hope this is the sign that they are taking their music seriously.

But who am I kidding right? This is most definitely going to be another moe-blob invasion.

First Impression: Working!!

I remember saying that I will probably going to like this show. Something about the description kinda intrigued me (hint: the word strange). Also, this is produced by A1 Pictures. I love some of their works (Kannagi and Oofuri to name a couple) so I have quite an expectation for this show as well. I am quite surprise that the first episode is already out. It was scheduled to release on April 4, if I am not mistaken.

edit: It seems like this is a special episode or something.

The episode started off with a busy day at the Wagnaria restaurant and the conversation that followed was about finding a new part-timer, who, you guessed it, is the protagonist in this show.

Taneshima Popura, one of the waitress at the restaurant was given the task to find the new part-timer so she went on the streets but phailed to find one until she met with a stranger, which will (eventually) be the protagonist, Takanashi Shouta, and offered him the job. Shouta mistook her as a lost child (who wouldn't?)

I understand your confusion, Shouta

I got a feeling that Taneshima will be an annoying character that I have to deal with but the show promised lots of other interesting characters so I think they balanced her out perfectly. For example:

• the manager, Shirafuji Kyoko, is a straight forward kinda girl. She didn't do much work and is honest about it as she told Shouta with a straight face. Then she told a customer that she needs to burn the ugly fat when she complained about the restaurant was too hot. That's hilarious. And she's very sensitive when it comes to her age.
  
• Satou Jun who looks so damn cool with his hair covering half of his face. I'm not sure if that's hygienic enough for a chef though since his hair might gets in the food.
  
• Souma Hiroomi, the chatty blue-haired person who seems to be closed friends with with Satou. He's also one of the chef. Apparently the chefs in Wagnaria are all good looking hunks.
• Todoroki Yachiyo, the shift leader who carries around a katana on her waist, even during working hour. She NEVER opens her eyes, that's how fucking badass she is.
• And then there's Miharu Inami who is androphobic. Shouta got punched in the face as a greeting! lmao I have never met an anime character that's androphobic before.
  
• Let's not forget the forgettable protagonist, shall we? Takanashi Shouta is just like any other male out there. I love hearing his thoughts. At first I was afraid if he has any romantic feelings for Taneshima because that would just ruined everything. To my big relief, he is kinda a weirdo ^o^
  

So much win!

As you can tell, this first episode is pretty much an introductory episode for all the characters. I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next episode already.
