First Impression: Little Busters!

From the preview, Little Bastards, I mean Little Busters!, has nothing to offer me. It looks like another typical harem show which most of the time, I am not too fond of. The only reason why I'm curious about this show is the fact that it is produced by J.C. Staff. I have faith in them so lets hope the show won't be too shitty.

Well... after I have watched the first episode, I did not understand shit and I am not sure whether that is a good thing or not.

The plot is pretty random. Everyone seems to put Kyousuke, the "hero" so-to-say, on a pedestal. He with four others of his friends sort of live in their own world, where most of what they do were on Kyousuke's whim. They are not of the same age though. Kyousuke is the oldest and Rin, his sister is the youngest. Kyousuke is in his third year and will be leaving them soon so in order to do things together like they used to, Kyousuke suggested that they play baseball. Like I said, it's pretty random.

I am not gonna write anything bad about the arts and animation since after all, this is produced by J.C. Staff. They won't do a bad job at it. The character designs however is something that I am  familiar with. Kyousuke especially reminds me Otonashi from Angel Beats! Or is it just me? =\ 

The show surprises me in a way that I actually like Rin. I usually dislike arch-type character like her. If I have any complains, its the male seiyuus. I don't think any of the male seiyuus fit the characters that they voiced for. Kyousuke for example, sounds too... snobbish. I thought that it's kinda odd.

Little Busters isn't shitty but it isn't good either. Another average show in the history of anime. Not sure if I will watch this. Most probably I will end up downloading the episodes but won't watch it anytime soon, or be forever in my waiting list. Perhaps it would be more appealing if I read the visual novel...

First Impression: Saint Seiya Omega

I am unsure about this one. I know I am not a fan of this genre of anime in general but I thought I should give it a chance, like I did with any other anime of the season. I have a feeling that I would end up dropping this series once I saw the first episode though.

The art and animation of this series are really oldskool and it should not come as a surprise because the series itself (Saint Seiya) has been around for 25 years. This anime is the first TV series since it was first started so I think that fact makes me more acceptable towards it. At the same time, it also has that Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan feeling to it in term of exaggeration etc. Fascinating enough, the fanarts are more visually intriguing and much more entertaining/exciting than the anime.

Since I don't read the manga, I have no idea how close it the anime adaptation is to the source but knowing that this is a spin off, I guess Toei Animation has the liberty to be creative with the story. The episode started with the Gold Seiya saving Kouga from the evil when he was still a baby, in the arms of Athena, his guardian. Ever since then, he has been training to become a Seiya himself and help save his planet from the evil power. Of course he has his comrades to help him out.

I can't relate to any of the characters which is probably why I ended up failing to enjoy this episode. Though they are all the heroic type, they lack something human in my opinion. This make sense since they are Martians and logically aren't exactly human. But still... it's has the negative effect on me personally.

As for the seiyuus and the OP/ED, they aren't anything bad about them but there aren't outstanding either. In other words, they are average at best. I guess it was to be expected of a shounen shows nowadays... sadly so.

Like I said earlier, I did not manage to enjoy this show just like I expected. Consequently, there won't be a second chance for Saint Seiya Omega for me. I'm dropping this.

First Impression: Fate/Zero

I am not as excited as everyone else about this show. Like I said in my preview for Fall, I am not really a fan of Fate, either the anime or the game. I also don't get why are people so crazy about Fate. I admit that she's good with that sword of hers but other than that... she's rather dull.

Since I have watched Fate/Stay Night, I am not completely clueless about this show. At least they are still using Holy Grail War concept shit as the pillar of the story. The Holy Grail War is a battle to obtain some ancient relic that will perform miracle to those who wins it. The Grail will choose 7 magi as Masters for the Servant. If you have the stigmata, that means you have the power to summon and command a servant (heroes of your choice from ancient time) and together you will fight the war.

That's all that I understand really. Other gibberish are just words that I have no idea what it means, really. They mentioned Tohsaka and Matou and few other names as if I am supposed to know who they are. Well, I am not. Or maybe I just don't remember. Orz.

The show takes us back and forth, from yesteryear to the future and from one country to the other. In doing so we are being introduced with the characters that will play their part in this war eventually. It is a necessary build up for the war that will happen anytime soon. I mean, I even get to see Rin as a child.

There are several key players in this show. The lucky winners for this round are Kotomine Kirei who will work together (under pretense that theya are enemy) with Tohsaka Tokiomi to ensure that they will win the other five battles. He is the most mysterious character out of the bunch at the moment. Then there's Kariya who abandoned his family name (Matou) to live a normal life but when he learned that Sakura (Rin's sister) was adopted, he made a deal to win the war so Zouken will release her. The third one is Waver Velvet, an ambitious boy from London who wants to prove that winning the war is all about pure skills and got nothing to do with bloodline or rank. The forth is Emiya Kiritsugi, the Magus Killer who was chosen to marry into the Einzbern family. He's one cruel son of bitch that will bomb both the Entire State Building if his target is in there. This fact makes me root for him lol me and my taste for bad guy. The fifth Master is Rin's dad Tokiomi. That left us with two more spots for Masters.

The battle to look out for has to be Emiya versus Kirei. They both kinda crazy in the head when it comes to murdering Magus.

Then there are the Servants. Assassin is assigned to Kirei, Saber to Emiya, Rider to Waver, Gilgamesh to Tokiomi and Berserker to Kiriya. Caster and Lancer are yet to found their Masters.


So... This first episode is pretty fucked up in so many ways. We got Sakura who got fucked by insects and was used to it in three fucking days. Jeebus. Then there's Waver who is so going to be fucked like there's no tomorrow by his Servant. Also, what's up with Tokiomi and Kirei's father going in circle while explaining shits to Kirei? I mean, just what the fuck was that? Kiriya and Berserker seem like the best fucked up combination you can think of and last but not least, Emiya who think someone just fucked with him when Saber appeared instead of Arthur. Heh.

Let us not forget who produced this show. I hope it will be as awesome and as fucked up gory as Kara no Kyoukai. Judging from this almost 48 minutes introduction of the first episode, I am pretty sure that it will turn out just as great. If the "Fate" franchise itself doesn't get me excited, knowing that Ufotable produced this does. Needless to say I am a fan of their works and thus by the end of this episode, I can honestly say my interest level has increased by tenfold.

Oh yeah this shit is going to be 25 long episodes of greatness! *cross fingers*

First Impression: Sekaiichi Hatsukoi

The only yaoi/BL show of the season (I'm not including Sex Pistol because it's an OVA) so naturally it was compulsory for me to watch it. The animation for this one definitely reminds me of Junjou Romantica, quite possibly the worst yaoi show I have ever watched.


Ritsu Onodera knew and acknowledge himself as gay even when he's in high school. In fact he was quite a stalker. This lifestyle of his lasted until he's an adult. From what little flashback that they show, he was quite a player.

He worked at his family's publishing house but when he heard his co-worker thought that he's using his connection, he quit to prove himself that he can be successful with his own effort. He was then assigned to the shoujo department and met the Editor-in-Chief who is quite an asshole (duh). He's good at what he do though so that's how he earns Ritsu's respect (and eventually his ass as well). And as I have expected, Takano is actually the same guy that Ritsu confessed his love at the start of the episode. Only in yaoi XD

The good thing about this show is, it doesn't feel rushed. Other yaoi (like Junjou), the protagonists can't seem to wait to get into each other buttholes. Sekaiichi Hatsukoi takes it time marinating that part until it's totally appropriate and/or reaches it peak. The kissing part was totally unexpected (on Ritsu's part that is) and it makes me chuckled because it didn't lace with fake feelings.


I got to say that I really enjoy Ritsu's monologue. I found it entertaining because most of the time, it turns out funneh. He's witty. Also, since they work in a shoujo department, I get to learn some the process of creating a successful manga (even though I don't read shoujo). At least I'm not totally clueless as why the pages sometimes so white and sparkly...

I'm not familiar with Takashi Kondo but since Ritsu sounds so sexy sometimes, I have no choice but acknowledge that he is good at what he does. The other seiyuus are quite a line-up (Katsuyuki Konishi makes Takano came to live) but their characters are yet to be introduced. It just something that makes me look forward to the next episode.

The OP is shit though and thankfully the ED kinda better (but not really). I'll skip both of them the next time I watch this show.

Enjoyable? Fuck yes if you love yaoi.

First Impression: Sukisho

I first heard about this show when chronolynx mentioned it in her/his twitter. What got my attention however is the fact that s/he mentioned BL in the same sentence. Without delay I went looking for it. Basically what I am saying is I am watching this based on my trust in chronolynx and since it's BL I'm willing to tolerate it even if it turned out shit. I tolerated Junjou Romantica so this should be peachy.


Sukisho is obviously about two guys who is hot for each other but that is only the tips of the icebergs. Sora just got out of the hospital after falling down from the school window. He suffered from memory lost. During his absent, his old friend Nao returned and became his new roommate. Nao is bipolar or something. At night he called himself Ran but during the day he's known as Nao. Obviously this made Sora confused. What he doesn't know is, he has a bipolar personality as well named Yoru.

This story is not that simple it seems. They threw in many shits in the first episode and looks like the characters are more than just meet the eyes. At least I won't be disappointed with the characters development by the end of this show.

Sukisho was produced in Spring 2005 by Zexcs. Just with any other yaoi, I don't expect a strong plot or story line. However this show has provided more than what I have expected which is good. The quality of the art and animation were like the rest of the anime produced during those years. In my opinion, the character designs could be the biggest flaw of this show. The manga looks good but when it got animated, they look like just retards with weird hairdo. I don't like the fact that there are too many feminine looking male in the show either. I also think that the production team were trying too hard to make this show has the cuteness value by doing the chibi characters and all that. If you asked me, I would have instructed them to focus on the story instead of coming up with these useless tactics.

I am not that familiar with the seiyuu but Hikaru Midorikawa and Souuchirou Hoshi were not really outstanding with the characters. The OP was weak as well and I wasn't paying much attention to the BGM because it sounded the same as the other shoujo shit we heard. There's nothing creative about it. At least there was a slight improvement with the ED. I like how fast the track is.

Unless you are a hardcore BL fan like me, it would be wise for you to avoid this one. The only reason I'm going to continue watching this show is the prospect of this:

First Impression: Starry☆Sky

Reverse harem? Why not just total BL instead? If it was, I would be the first to raise my hands and claim this as my favorite even before I've seen the episodes. As it is, this is still targeted for the female audience. I doubt many males would want to see some bunch of guys chasing the the only female in school.

The start was weak as fuck. We got the protagonist reminiscing as he looked at the sky and queue flashback. When he was a child, he met a girl who he spent time with doing nothing but staring at the night sky. Boring stuff especially when I know what to expect for the entire show in less than 10 minutes into the episode. That is definitely not good. I already know that the protagonist will do whatever it takes to meet the same girl that he fell for when he was a kid and it just so happened the same gal is going to the same school that he is transferring to. Cliche as fuck.

(If you feel like all these setups looks familiar, that's because it is: La Corda D'Oro ~primo passo~)

Well, this is a show full of bishies so I can't complain much when it comes to character designs even though they all look like your typical bishounen. So I guess I had to complain about that. I just wish they paid more intention to details and the animation was really terrible. It's like they don't even bother trying. Fuck you Studio DEEN. Not when you have a whole bunch of bishounen at your disposal.

I usually channel my hatred to the subject of reverse harem but not in this case. At least not yet. I am actually disappointed with Kenichi Suzumura's performance in this show. It was as weak as the fucking show itself. It is hard for me to dislike a bishounen but yes I dislike Tomoe the moment he opened his mouth. HOWEVER! I didn't expect to hear Sugita Tomokazu in this one. Or Jun Fukuyama or Yuuichi Nakamura or Mamoru Miyano or Junichi Suwabe or Kamiya Hiroshi. Fuck, now I feel like I'm obligated to watch this shit just like with Miracle Train, which I have yet to complete.

The good news is, each episode is only 12 minutes long. That will save you from permanent brain injury. There's only one way for me to watch this shit. That is if Tomoe Yoh sucks my imaginary dick. Better yet, why not the whole bunch of bishounen do just that. Then maybe I might actually enjoy this piece of shit.

First Impression: Togainu no Chi

Finally, the show I have been waiting for this season! I am reading the manga and have enjoy every moment of it so far, especially the doujinshi *chuckles* So yeah, because of that fact, I'm going to be overly critical with the anime because I know how the story goes already. If the studios fucked up, then I'll know for sure.

Speaking of studios, this is the only anime that is produced by A-1 Pictures Inc. this season so I expect really good stuff here. A-1 Pictures Inc. has never disappoint me so far so I hope they won't start with this one. A-1 Pictures collaborate with Aniplex and Picture Magic. I am kinda worried though when I found out that Naoyuki Konno is the director for this show. I was worried that this might turned out like Dance in the Vampire Bund *shudders*

One of the many reason why I like Togainu no Chi is because how bloody and bad ass the series is. There will always be fights, and killing, and such. It is definitely my type of anime.

Togainu no Chi takes place in after the third world war or something and Japan was divided into two parts, the north and the south. Those on top just made matter worst. They are hungry for power and money and doesn't really care to unite the country again. At Toshima (used to be known as Tokyo), Vischio has taken over the ruling. They created a game called Igura where they used tag as prizes. You must pummeled your opponent until he's dead and collect his tag. If he isn't dead the "cleaner" will take care of that matter. The small tags can be exchanged for drugs or other necessity. The five special tag will determined you as a winner which mean you have to defeat Il-re, the famous King of Toshima.

It was good that I read the manga first hand though because the anime jump straight into the action and it seems like they are getting into the details how Akira ended up in Toshima with a mission to kill Il-re. Basically he was framed by the police for a crime he didn't do. But it is not like he has much of a choice. Its either torture in prison, or fight for survival in Toshima. The purpose of defeating Il-re is to get to Vischio and annihilate the drug company.

Akira sure is lucky to meet Shiki in his first night at Toshima. Otherwise he would have been dead fighting the drug induced assholes. Shiki brings carnage to the show y'all!

In the manga, I always like Akira and Gunji the most. Two very contradict characters. Akira is the quiet type kind of guy who lets his action speaks louder than his words. He's a good hand-to-hand fighter which is why he was sent to Toshima. Akira who have never known fear before practically pissed in his pantsu when he met Shiki for the first time. LOL, the anime totally changed my mind about Shiki. I like him before but not to this extend. Shiki is the dude who always clad in black and carries a katana around. He kinda works for Vischio and the upper up by distributing drugs or something (can't really remember) but he's a good guy. Keisuke is Akira's friend from back home. He's a wuss and obviously gay for Akira. He is pretty annoying for a guy because he's so weak. But that will change in the future. Hmm, so far those are the only characters that worth mentioning in this episode right?

I love the fact that the anime gets the character designs right. I love how intense both Akira and Shiki eyes are because even in the manga, that part of them kinda pushed through. Kudos to the production team for getting the essence of their character right. It feels like they pop right from the pages. The animation is awesome as well. The fighting is bloody and the punches and kicking and all the slick moves are smooth and fluent. Kudos again because ultimately Togainu no Chi is all about the fights.

As for the seiyuu, I can't say that I am please with the fact that Tomokazu Sugita is doing my least favorite character of the series, Keisuke. Let me point out though that I almost didn't recognize Tomokazu because he sounded so different from what he usually does. I guess this goes to show that he has the versatility as a seiyuu. And who knows with him as Keisuke, I might end up liking the guy. If I never paid attention to Hikaru Midorikawa before, I certainly am now. I love Shiki's voice and I think this is a big break for Hikaru. I expect to hear more of his voice used for the protagonists in the future. I surprised myself when I don't recognize Akira's voice at all. He shares the same seiyuu as Gilbert Nightray in Pandora Hearts. I love Gilbert. I should have recognized his seiyuu Kousuke Toriumi. Another seiyuu that I have to put on my map.

I like the rock/metal sound of the OP music from GRANRODEO. It suits the theme of the anime, dark and gloomy. As I listened to the background music, I found myself drumming to the beat. They cleverly used percussion and made it suits the feel for any particular scenes. I already made up my mind that I'm gonna like the ED the first few seconds I heard it. It just has that certain quality that I always fall for. It is also kinda catchy. So yeah I'm quite happy with the overall sounds for this show.

Thank you A-1 Pictures Inc. for finally brought me an anime that I will follow this season. And thank goodness that I have more good feelings about this show compared to what I first thought about Dance in the Vampire Bund. Speaking of that show, doesn't Kira kinda looks like Akira a lot?
