Aku no Hana

It has been a while I got this excited for an anime. In fact, I can't remember the last anime that got me all worked out like this. Needless to say, I think Aku no Hana is a very awesome anime. I definitely recommended it to everyone.

A Year Older: Again

It’s that day when I got another level up in life. I’m turning a year older again today. So many things have changed in a course of a year. I read what I wrote on my birthday last year and I almost choked with laughter at how ridiculous everything sounds.

Goodbye 2012 and Hallo 2013

So overall, year 2012 has indeed been kinder to me. I have achieved what I set out to achieve but most importantly, I unexpectedly found love which is easily the highlight of the year for me.

Light Writings: Love II

I need an outlet to express how I feel nowadays. To be honest, things are going too good for me at the moment to the point that I am sort of living in fear for I do not want these extremely good feelings, and the love I have for him to end. If all these are gone tomorrow, there is a big probability that I might lose sanity.

Light Writings: Crush II

Welp, looks like we are having this conversation again after so many years. Well 2 years and 3 months to be exact. The last time I wrote about my crush, I was in a different state of mind where I know it can be nothing more than just that, a crush.

Diary of a tard: Week 1, June 2013

Aku no Hana episode 9: Saeki refused to break up with Kasuga. She didn't mind that Kasuga did all those things and even glad that he did. She's angry that he chose to tell Nakamura instead of her though. This only made Kasuga confused, even more so now that her mother knew it was him who vandal the classroom. He ran away and ended up where Nakamura and he used to hang out after school. Naturally Nakamura was already waiting for him. I love the fact that when Kasuga asked her to stay with him, her answer is "No, you will stay with me, you little piece of shit".

Episode 8 of Shingeki no Kyojin: the abnormal Titan helped them defeated the other Titans. Thanks to Armin's calm plan, they managed to get to the supply tower and stock up on their gases. Jean questioned himself whether or not he's fit to be a commander but his friend convinced him that he is. Sorta. Well, I still doubt that he can though. At the end of the episode, the abnormal Titan was spent (after being eaten alive by the other Titan) and guess who merge from the corpse? It's Eren though he's dead as well. I am still unsure how or what the deal with him being a Titan etc...

Episode 9 of Shingeki no Kyojin: So it is finally revealed how Eren becomes a Titan. It all thanks to his dad. All he needs to do is bite the side of his thumb and voila! The soldier was ready to shoot him down because they all saw him emerged from the Titan's body. Obviously Mikasa and Armin won't let them but since they were so adamant, Eren has no choice but to protect his friends by becoming a Titan. On the other hand, Levi is awesome as fuck but I can see him as a threat to Eren since he's determined to eliminate all Titan and Eren is one now.

Love Live! School Idol Project episode 2: The girls are having trouble finding a place for them to practice but that issue solved rather quickly. They started to practice diligently and slowly but surely other students are showing support for them as well, including the president of the student council. They also managed to convince Maki to write their song for them.

I'm pissed at someone but instead of feeding the troll, lets read some manga!

And holy shit Kannagi has new chapters! Chapter 41 and 42: There is still no Nagi though Jin tries hard to bring her back. Now that he finds help from Shouhou everything looks fine but what Jin doesn't know is the fact that Shouhou is actually a girl. Ah I can see some conflicting shit in the future where Shouhou fall for Jin etc. Urgh I just want my Nagi back. Where is she?!

Diary of a tard: Week 4, February 2012

Wednesday, February 22

Kannagi chapter 38: In previous chapter, we've seen Nagi taking Tsugumi somewhere. She looks mighty suspicious but I doubt that she will harm her. On the other hand, Zange is locking Jin in some room to ensure he doesn't gets to Nagi. Luckily he manages to escape but without a proper functional brain, it is futile because in no time at all Zange catches up to him again. As they are running around, Nagi intercept them with Tsugumi in her hand. Argh, what now I have to wait another quarter of a year for an update? Damn it!

*gasp* Jin's real face!

Chapter 52 of Amatsuki: Hizame (who is also known as Yata Bikuni) introduced herself to Toki. She, Ainezu and Kanzou were sent by Sasaki-sama of the Onmyou Bureau. Ainezu offered to help Tsuruume and Toki just have to agreed in order to save her. He was suspicious of them because it was Kanzou who took Kuchiha away. They also told Toki that Sasaki-sama traded his sight so he can see demons and it was Hizame who did it. She was also the one who raised Ainezu and Kanzou and teach them all sorts of things. She's one powerful bitch indeed. By the way, I sort of forget. I thought it was Kon who is interested in Kuchiha. Apparently Toki likes her too as he blabbered to his so-called enemy.

I have decided to pick up Ame Nochi Hare or Clear Up After Rain again. I read the first chapter in the same week two years ago but I have forgotten what it was all about so here I am reading from the first chapter again. It's about five male students: Yamanoi Hazuki, Goromaru Junta, Sakonji Madoka, Kisaragi Touma and Maki Yuusuke. On the first day of school, an afternoon storm changed them into girls.

now they have penises

Ame Nochi Hare chapter 2: They turned into girls but instead of grabbing their boobies, they are worried about how slender their fingers are. Something is wrong with these kids. They told Haruto who found them and invited them to stay at his place for the night. The next morning when they woke up, they have turned back to normal. However, during rain in the afternoon, they once again turned to girls. no one knew that Maki Yuusuke was in the same predicament though. I feel sorry for him to go through the shit alone.

The kids have figured out the condition of when will they change in chapter 3 of Ame Nochi Hare. They all ran off to Haru's place whenever they transformed. This time Touma and Madoka finally met Yuusuke and learned that he's the same. Haru doesn't like the fact that they do nothing when transformed into a girl so he approached the vice principal of the girl school and asked her if she could helped out. So suddenly they'll be attending both school. I don't like where this is going... Anyhoo, Haru's friend came over just when Haru fell on top of Hazuki. Perfect timing isn't it?

Thursday, February 23

Ame Nochi Hare chapter 4: Well, that friend of Haru is Jouji. Once explained he's now in cahoot with the rest of them too. Hazuki decided to move into the dorm just so he can keep it a secret from his family. He and Goro moved in with Maki. Haru got all of them the girl's uniform and even footed the bills for the underwear. This mean they are going to attend the girl school whenever it rains. There's this girl from the first chapter that I have been trying to forget but looks like she'll be Hazuki's love interest. And here I am hoping that Hazuki will hook up with Touma :(

Diary of a tard: Week 1, October 2011

Monday, October 3

Looks who is back people! Kannagi chapter 37! but still the update is painfully slow... Anyhoo, I'm just thankful for this chapter really. I have been waiting for this for more than a year! and even after this long period of time, I am still mad at Zange for ruining that almost perfect date. Unfortunately Nagi has forgotten all about Jin when she started to remember who Ozuma is. She even tainted herself so that Zange has no choice but to exorcise both her and Ozuma. This is completely unexpected. I'm pissed that Zange has no qualm whatsoever to destroy Nagi just because she has become a fallen god. WHOSE FUCKING FAULT DID YOU THINK IT IS, SLUT?! But anyway, at least Jin gets to see Zange for the whore that she is. My heart reaches out to him when he seems so lost without Nagi after that this reminds me of Ichigo and Rukia :3. Nagi on the other hand changed completely. She allures and then kills human to satiate her hunger. She responds to Jin but THAT DAMN ZANGE! FUCK I'M PISSED! and now she gone and kidnapped Tsugumi. As if things aren't complicated already

Eyeshield 21 chapter 3: Hiruma wants them to find 9 more players for the tournament. Everyone said no to Kurita and Sena but no one dares to say no to Hiruma. At the end of the day they only managed to gather 10 people which mean whether he likes it or not Sena has to play, or at least that;s what he thought. In truth Hiruma managed to gather at least 10 people all by himself.

Chapter 4 of Eyeshiled 21: Their first opponent in the tournament is the Koigahama Cupids. Hiruma really is a great team leader. He just know the right words to say to lift up the mood of the team. While they are on the field, two players from other team (which supposedly to be the strongest team) come to see the game and at the same time find any worthy recruits.

They already look like a great player ♥

Tuesday, October 4

The last time I read a chapter of D.Gray Man was in November last year. I stopped reading it because I was too pissed with what happened to Kanda. Almost a year has passed since then and I guess this is a good time as any to catch up. Chapter 200: Allen ordered the Ark to take Kanda and Alma to Matel so that no one can disturb them, neither the Order nor the Noah. Kanda spent his time pretty much hugging (the half-bodied) Alma until that girl of his affection appeared (wut?). I dunno what the fuck is up with that. Mean while at the other side of the world, news spread fast about Allen becoming the 14th. His ally and enemy alike have to made decision whether to be on his side or destroy him. Also, Alma's grudge has not disappear so Allen has to step in again. The Order still has the nerves to order Allen around. If he didn't destroy Alma then he will no longer be an exorcist. Allen ignored them and try to save Tokusa but his effort was interrupted by Link. WTF?

Gintama episode 151: Gin went to a barbershop for a haircut but the old man rather buy volume 7 of Abu-san manga than attend to his customer. While he was gone, he left the shop to Gin, Kagura and Shinpachi. Who else but Kondo walked in after being rejected by a saloon across the street. They have to pretend to be barbers but things got worse when Zura and the Shogun came in for a make over as well XD

Rubens Barrichello, Ayrton Senna and Jacques Villeneuve in my Gintama =D

Episode 152 of Gintama: The Shogun wanted a Mage. Kagura made a mess when she accidentally cut his Mage. They tried everything to put it back to normal, cutting Zura's hair and even to the extend of using Kondo's pubic hair lmao. It was gross but I'm laughing my ass off.

Saturday, October 8

Katekyo Hitman Reborn! chapter 27: The introduction of Dino Cavallone. He is Reborn's former apprentice. Dino is only awesome when he has his family around. Without them he's a total klutz. I personally think it's stupid >_>

My Top 10: Anime of the Decade

I already did anime of the decade last year but I was lazy and I actually focus more on OVA and movies in that one instead of TV series. Having said that, I am completely right with my choice of anime show and I adamantly stand by it.

This list, just like previously, is not ranked. Instead, this list consists of anime that doesn't necessarily top the chart when it was debuted nor was popular but it has a profound effect on me as an animetard and molded me to become the kind of anime fan that I am now.

Samurai Champloo (Spring 2004)

(c) hibiki

I have always been fascinated with Samurai theme ever since I watched Samurai X. Samurai Champloo was the first anime DVD that I bought. I have no freaking idea what it was about when I bought it. I know it has samurai in it and that's all my knowledge of the show was. I bought it because I thought that the theme was right and the art style was definitely something fresh. This was before I've seen Cowboy Bebop, mind you. So I watched it and was totally fell for Mugen. The way the story was told definitely something that I have never seen before. It set up quite a high par for any other anime that I want to spend my money on.

The best thing is, or rather a misfortune, I bought Samurai Champloo DVD three times. The first DVD I bought was lost during the moving to our new house. So I bought another one. My dad borrowed it and took it with him when he was working off-shore in China. He lost it. So I had to buy the DVD for the third time and this time around it is off limit to anyone. The DVD is definitely one of my prized possession.

Thanks to Samurai Champloo I got interested with other anime from Shinichiro Watanabe and that was how I ended up loving Cowboy Bebop, Mitchiko e Hatchin and Ergo Proxy. I love the dark story with lots of dorama I guess.

Bleach (Fall 2004)

http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=90533

I am no longer watching the anime. Just a loyal fan to it's manga but I plan on catching up to the anime some time soon. You see, I watch anime far in between before Bleach made it's debut. I bought anime DVD occasionally and most of the anime I watched was the one on national television which pretty much were just the 90's anime most of the time. It was like they had the Dragon Ball series on repeat.

It was only after I discovered Bleach that I know what an avid fan really is because I obviously become one in no time at all. Lets admit that the Soul Society arc led us to believe that Kubo Tite is a genius. I just couldn't get enough of Bleach.

It was this series that sparked my interest with manga. Before that I never bother. Through Bleach, I got to know some of the most amazing people I have ever met through facebook. Bleach unites us. It is because of Bleach too that I started taking real interest with other anime. That was how my obsession with anime started. I started downloading anime in chunk one after the other. It just so happened during that time I have just started working from home which mean I had plenty of time to spend on my new found hobby. I marathon any anime that had my interest. Some were great, some were not so much. This is how I learned about what genre I love and dislike and it has thought me a lot. Through Bleach I also started my figures collection and becomes not only obsessed with the whole show but of my shipping as well. I started writing fanfics and despite how many years it has been I still only write Bleach fanfics. I can't immerse myself with other series or characters like I can with Bleach. I've tried once but it turned out to be so superficial I abandoned it.

So you see, there was a lot of first with Bleach. Despite of the shit that Kubo trolled us with after the Soul Society arc, I am still a fan of this series to this very day otherwise it won't have it's own category in this blog. It would be a very sad day for me when Bleach eventually comes to an end. Thank goodness it is not for at least another 2 years :)

Genshiken (Fall 2004)

(c) kio shimaku

If Bleach made me an anime fan, Genshiken thought me what being an otaku is all about. It made me fall in love with the culture I guess. It opened my eyes of what it means being an otaku in Japan and how it was seen from a foreign point of view. It also introduced me to Akihabara, cosplaying and doujinshi. It made me aware of the conventions that I never thought exist. A place for all tards to gather around? It makes me want to go to at least one convention and after all these years, I finally managed to go to one this year. Above all else I learned that you do not mess with an otaku for any reason at all.

When I saw this, I was at the point in my life where I don't really know what I want to do with my life and pretty much content with the fact that I am a borderline hikikomori. I was totally unsociable. I only go out when I needed to and at one time had not had a conversation with real life person for almost a month. I locked myself in a room doing nothing but watch anime, reading manga, writing fanfics and occasionally tend to my workload. This continues for almost 4 years. It was awesome as fuck.

I kicked myself sometimes when I thought of the decision I made to actually get my life together for a change. Curses!

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny (Fall 2004)

(c) Robographer

I am truly aware of how Gundam fans perceived this show, especially that of SEED fans. They thought it was a phailed attempt. Shit it may be for others but this is the show that truly made me interested in mecha. My like or dislike for a show is strongly stemmed on whether or not I enjoy the story and the characters. Even though I think highly of SEED but Kira and Cagalli pissed me off so much I found myself raging at it most of the time.

I might fell for this show for all the wrong reason but it doesn't changed the fact that I thought the characters were far more awesome when they get into their Gundam. I have already fangirling about this show before so I'm not going to do it again here.

I am still not a big fan of mecha. I still can't name all the gundam even if you pointed a gun to my head but thanks to Destiny, I have learn to appreciate it a little bit more.

Gintama (Winter 2004)

(c) kaninn

Do noted that I saw Gintama after I watched Bleach. I was expecting a shounen anime but was presented with something that was totally whacked I couldn't help but fall in love with it. This is the anime that set the par for comedy for me. The randomness just totally blew me away. I have said over and over again that this show is THE GREATEST GAR SHOW ever. Gin has fought with aliens, the authority, your grandmother, you named it he has done it. Not to mention that thanks to Gintama, I fall hard for Tomokazu Sugita. I never paid attention to seiyuu before but because of this show, I am slowly turning into a seiyuu fag.

So imagined how sad and in rage I was when I found out that Gintama has come to an end. I mean seriously, I have never been so worried about my sanity like I was then. I thought it was another scam of theirs but the anime fandom was buzzing about the truth in it, I was left flabbergasted. Around the same time, they announced the movie date so that helped ease my trouble mind a little. I kept rewatching the old episodes to keep me a tad sane. Then earlier this month Glo came bearing the good news. The world is okay again and I am no longer tempted to do homicide.

I know that this does not sound significant to you but think of it this way. If someone asked you what is your favorite anime of all time, and this or that anime popped up instantly in your head, you know that it got to mean something to you. I have always trust my guts and there is no way I'm gonna turn my back on it now.

Gintama has helped me with all sorts of life problems. It has become my source of power to put my depression away and move on with life. I think I have become a stronger person because I can laugh my problems away watching this show. It doesn't necessarily solved my problems but it made me realized that these problems are not worth crying over for, that life is actually worth living :)

Sensitive Pornograph (Winter 2004)

If you have paid any attention, you know that yaoi is like my guilty drug. It all started when I came across this particular show. This show started my obsession with BL/yaoi. Before I knew what happened, it has taken over my life. LOL sounds so dramatic but it is the truth. I become bolder. Exploring about sex in general (only in theory of course) and accepting few things that surprised even myself. Words won't do justice but I'm gonna leave this one at that. I doubt GAR men can handle what's on my mind most of the time >=3

Honey and Clover (Spring 2005 & Summer 2006)

(c) chika umino

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not good with romance or relationship but the irony is I am a sucker for romace if it is done right. That's why my fanfics always turned up with romance theme in it. Not shoujo though (because I dislike shoujo) but romance. There's a difference.

Before Honey and Clover, I don't usually picked up anime with such theme. I thought that if I want drama, then I just watched all the Japanese drama that I have in my possession. But I am glad that when I decided to start watching romance theme, I started with this particular show. It just left me in awe with it's mind blowing craft. From the story telling, to the comedies and the dorama. It tells real story with real characters. That was the most appealing side of this show in my opinion.

This show has become the gateway anime for shows with similar theme like Lovely Complex and White Album.

Honey and Clover made me realized that my friends were not at fault when we drifted apart. It just part of having a life is all about. We don't always get what we wanted but it's either we cherished the moment we had that counts. It allowed me to remember all the good times me and my friends had instead of why we didn't regularly get in touch with each other anymore.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (Spring 2006)

(c) sugimasa

I never thought that I would see the exact copy of myself (minus the Godly power) in anime. When I first saw Haruhi, the realization just smacked me right in the face and made me into an overnight fan of her and this show. I am just as obsessed with Kyon like Haruhi is obsessed with him. Sometimes it is scary and thrilling to realized how similar our taste and personality are.

Back in high school, people (mostly girls) generally don't want to be friends with me. I'm cool with that. I have my own set of friends (just like Haruhi has her SOS Brigade members) to keep me happy an entertained during my school years. The same happened when I got into college. After that I just don't give a fuck anymore and became a borderline hikikomori.

I am constantly want to try out something new. Always planning the next big things in my life or just do something that I have never done before. I graduated with an IT degree. Work for about 8 months before I got bored with the shit. Then I started writing and it opened up to an endless world of adventures for me from motorsports to anime and everything in between. After that I started learning how to make dresses out of boredom and end up with a business under my belt. Now I'm in an advertising business slashed event management where I got to mingle and hang out with local artists and such. The passion last for about a year and a half and I am already bored with it. I have mega project in my mind for next year and if it comes to fruition, then I'm saying goodbye to this glamorous life. See what I mean? I need someone who can keep up just like Kyon is with Haruhi.

I guess this show have the most profound effect on me more than any other anime because of the similarities, for better or for worse.

Btw, the movie was freaking amazing. I'm just saying.

Kara no Kyoukai and Mnemosyne (Winter 2007)

(c) hara takehito

I know that both of these shows are not TV series. One is a 7 parts movie and the other is an OVA but I have to include them in this list because of the simplest reason. Both of the female protagonists are very strong women who knows what they want and are not afraid to achieve their set goals despite of all the obstacle, especially when it comes to romance and relationship. Thanks to this, I realized that an ordinary love story just won't work for me which is why I won't settle down until I found my Shiki/Mikiya or Rin/Apos kind of romance. Crazy is me.

Kannagi and Hyakko (Fall 2008)

http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=438240

http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=65947

Needless to say that these shows featured moe characters. I always thought I hate moe shits but shows like these proved that I'm pretty shallow when it comes to moe. I like moe when it is funny and the story presented was intelligent. What I hate is the kind of moe who took us for a fool and thought that a bunch of girls sit around having tea after school is great. I mean Hyakko is about a bunch of girls having fun at school too but they managed to make the show entertaining and engaging through their characters' depth.

I also found out what my favorite studio production is through Kannagi. A1-Pictures have brought me a number of enjoyable anime. They are coming up with Fractale for Winter and it got a noitaminA time slot. That I think speak for itself. I am turning into a studio fag as well because I will watch whatever this studio will throw at me.

And that is the end of my list. But before I conclude this list, allow me to make a special mention to one more OVA anime that has tickle my funny bones and allowed me to enjoy profanities like I have never enjoyed it before.

Detroit Metal City (Summer 2008)

because it made this kind of fanart possible and no one can feel offended :P

Phew what a decade it has been. Hopefully my passion for anime will continue for another ten years so that I can do the same shit when it comes to the end of 2020.

Manga Kannagi to be resumed

(c) makino

After I read this joyful news, I was practically joining Nagi with her swimsuit, dancing on my toes to Haruka Tomatsu song, Motto Hade ni ne!

The last chapter of Kannagi was in January 2009. The manga has been suspended because of Takenashi Eri's health issue. Now that she is back, we finally get to know whether or not Nagi is no longer a virgin.

LOL I still remember how the fans rage when Eri revealed that Nagi has a boyfriend. It was hilarious. Although I am not too happy that there is a third person in Nagi/Jin "relationship" (let's ignore Zange for a sec), this does pose for a good plot twist.

I'm not gonna forgive Zange for playing dirty though. If she didn't eavesdropping, Jin would have confessed to Nagi and that would made my day.

Unfortunately after the revelation in chapter 36, Eri fell ill and has been on hiatus ever since. Now that she's better, she will resume the serialization of the manga and the fans will finally get the conclusion for the whole story. For more than a year, we keep thinking whether or not Nagi will make a come back to the point that some of us felt cheated.

The date for the restart will be made known to public in the Comic Rex November issue which is set to be released on October 9 *is totally stoke!*

Hopefully with this great news, A1-Pictures will consider making a sequel for Kannagi. Unlike Amatsuki which studio DEEN has pretty much phailed the manga, A1-Pictures did a great job with the animation for Kannagi. I definitely voting for season two!

pantsu!!

Trivia: Kannagi is in my top four favorite manga list. Can you guess the other three?

Kannagi Special

It is a fact that I am a big fan of Kannagi because of Nagi, and also Jin. Sorta.

This is the unaired special episode of Kannagi that never is only available if you purchase the DVD Vol. 7 of the series. I have it since they first came out. I did a spring cleaning today and found it buried among the new season’s anime. Without wasting anymore time, let’s enjoy the show.

I am a big fan of the OP and still imitates the dance moves whenever I hear the songs. In the OP, they showed that the characters were making a film, or some sort of a commercial featuring Nagi and her step sister, Zange (I almost forgot about her -_-)

Well, guess what, we finally get to see the behind the scenes of that said commercial/film. Or so I thought.

Takako and Shino found one hundred thousand yen on their way to school. What are the chances right? Right. But then again, they have a god with them so anything is possible.

Since they are in the art club, Takako decided that they should make a movie. She who I forgot was a perverted lesbian, quickly gave the leading role to Zange because she seduced her so. What a slut.

They all chipped in an idea of what kind of movie they wanted to make. Somehow Takako managed to include everyone’s idea into making the film or rather Akiba did. Akiba was responsible for the script. He impressed us all when he finished it in 15 minutes time. Like I said, when you have a God with you, anything is possible. Having two Gods around? It would make everything seems so simple!

They started shooting on the weekends. Once again, Akiba stepped up and became the director. I guess only the scrip-writer would know which camera angle is the best for what scene.

The film: Nagi is the justice force while Zange is the evil queen of some outer space dimension. Nagi was just out of prison and has come to rescue Jin. Zange and Nagi had a fight when Tsumugi appeared. She is the thirteenth doll chakra and the source of power for Nagi.

The film was not able to be completed on the same day and somehow they all ended wearing swimsuits. Fanservice is part of film-business nowadays anyway. Heh and Nagi confidently wear hers and doesn’t even care if she is a pettan. This is why I like her so much. She’s someone I can relate too. But either or, Jin got all the glory!

While I'm drooling for the boys ^__^

look at the shiny butt that belongs to Akiba =3

The typhoon (which caused them to change into their swimsuit) was relentless. They stuck in a classroom and the electricity was disconnected.

Jin tripped on a DVD that Akiba lent for the making of the film. It was overdue. Tatako forces him to return it even in the chaotic weather and Akiba being an otaku, took his job as the director seriously. It turned out to be quite a dramatic scene in this special episode.

They should have abandoned the film idea that they have and just shoot whatever they were doing instead. Make it a documentary or something. I don’t care but yeah, it is definitely more interesting. I’m not saying that Akiba’s story aren’t but they were all constrained by the dialogue and other elements, especially the budget.

At the end, the only one left standing was Jin and Nagi (as it should have been). This is the romance that I am talking about. They don’t need to be forced. It happens because it was meant to happen. Fate.

I really like the symbolism that they used. How the rain stopped, and the cloud cleared away in front of them. This is the kind of romance that I crave for, with a twist of course, like that of Mikiya and Shiki.

This episode makes me smiles warmly from start to finish. It reminds me why I like Kannagi in the first place. The character was honest and they don’t exaggerate, except for Zange, sometimes.

A-1 Pictures has once again successfully produced another favorite anime of mine. They are definitely my favorite studios at the moment.

The art is consistent with the rest of the episodes, and Kannagi makes me a fan of Nagi’s seiyuu Haruka Tomatsu . I am already a fan of Hiro Shimono, Jin's seiyuu, ever since I found out that he's the same guy that does the voice Tajima of Oofuri.

I hope they’ll have a second season and the manga will continue. I mean, I am dying to know what happens when they revealed in the last chapter of Kannagi that Nagi has a boyfriend not too long ago. It created uproar because the fandom all thought that they were cheated, that Nagi is no longer a virgin. I chuckled at the fanatics. Seriously? Though I must say that it ruined the moment for me because if Zange didn’t interfere, Jin would have confessed to Nagi. But then again, wouldn’t that mark the end of Kannagi? I certainly don’t want that to happen. So I guess the drama was necessary.

Jin is so ~nyoron =3

Shit, they should have update the manga like NIAO!!

Art 10/10
Story 9/10
Character 10/10
Sound 10/10
Enjoyment 10/10
Overall 10/10

Kannagi

To be honest, I didn't expect much from Kannagi when I saw the anime list for Fall 2008. I thought it was another cliche anime where boy meets goddess shit.

When it was released, I only checked it out after I downloaded the third episode and oh boy... the OP! It got me hooked right away. That was the first time anything like that ever happened to me. I mean, I was shamelessly imitating her dance moves for fuck's sake! LOL

After I finished watching the first episode, I know that I was positively addicted to the show and Kannagi quickly becomes one of my favorite female characters (besides Rukia, Haruhi and Shiki). Due to my addiction, I quickly checked out onemanga and was thrill to find that the manga is in publishing.

But lets talk about the manga here. Lets now dive into the world of Kannagi, the animation.

Mikuriya Jin, our protagonist accidentally encounter a goddess called Nagi who has taken a vessel out of a carving he made from a sacred three. The story progresses as Jin helps out Nagi to find out who she really is since she can't remember much about her past as a goddess. There are misadventures and slight romance going on in the process. Kannagi has supernatural and romantic aspects to it but I must say that the comedy is the main driving force of this show that makes it such an enjoyable series. From the subtle reference that only an otaku would understand to the outlandish slap-stick comedy anyone could laugh to, Kannagi is made with a diverse audience in mind.

The protagonist is a completely normal character. He is not self-righteous, he is not an annoying arrogant bastard, he is not brawn-over-brain idiot, he is just... Jin, a pretty damn normal high school male student. That makes him a lot more relatable than most of the losers we usually found in this kind of genre.

If comedy is the driving force of this show, then without Nagi, there would be no show. Sure she is based on archetypes character but her hot, foxy attitude is what makes her so entertaining to watch. To me Nagi in Kannagi is the one who brings life to such a dull premise. Her interactions with Jin makes me glued to the screen. They are definitely the highlights of the show. Nagi and Jin FTW!!

Kannagi has a great cast of supporting characters. Meguru, Zange, Daitetsu, Takako, Shino and Tsugumi, help drive the plots with comedic devices. Even though they do not received a lot of character development, the difference dialect between them shows us plenty of their personalities. I personally not a fan of Zange-chan but only because I am slowly turning gay for Nagi. Not a fan of Tsugumi either because my OTP for this show is obviously Jin and Nagi. She just gets in the way and I hate her for that. Now don't start hating me for that XD

The animation is another strong point of this series. It may not be clear cut state-of-the-art work but its high quality animation that flow seamlessly together makes it great. They also give great details to character animation. They really stands out. Each scenes has many small intricate movements from a flick of hair waving about to the sleeve of a shirt moving according to the wind. This not only brings the characters to live, it also makes the scenes appear to be natural, not stiff and lacking.

I have mentioned the dialect of the characters. It just goes to show that the seiyuu did a good job at adding life and personalities to the characters especially when you don't have much of character development going on. Kudos to Haruka Tomatsu, who is the voice actor for Nagi, who is able to pull off the most unique one-liners resulting in some truly hilarious moments. She also sang both the OP and ED of this series which can be compared to the likes of the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, as they both have memorable OP and themes.

Kannagi is not without fault though. The end is rather disappointing and would leave you with more questions than answers but luckily I'm a manga reader so I get to see the continuation of everything.

Overall, I totally enjoyed it. Kannagi has proven its worth as one of the most entertaining show of year 2008. One that should not be missed.
