Aku no Hana

It has been a while I got this excited for an anime. In fact, I can't remember the last anime that got me all worked out like this. Needless to say, I think Aku no Hana is a very awesome anime. I definitely recommended it to everyone.

A Year Older: Again

It’s that day when I got another level up in life. I’m turning a year older again today. So many things have changed in a course of a year. I read what I wrote on my birthday last year and I almost choked with laughter at how ridiculous everything sounds.

Goodbye 2012 and Hallo 2013

So overall, year 2012 has indeed been kinder to me. I have achieved what I set out to achieve but most importantly, I unexpectedly found love which is easily the highlight of the year for me.

Light Writings: Love II

I need an outlet to express how I feel nowadays. To be honest, things are going too good for me at the moment to the point that I am sort of living in fear for I do not want these extremely good feelings, and the love I have for him to end. If all these are gone tomorrow, there is a big probability that I might lose sanity.

Light Writings: Crush II

Welp, looks like we are having this conversation again after so many years. Well 2 years and 3 months to be exact. The last time I wrote about my crush, I was in a different state of mind where I know it can be nothing more than just that, a crush.

Persona 4 the Animation: Episode 14

This episode pretty much explains what Yu was up to in the last episode, of how he spend his summer vacation. Seeing that I was bored to death watching that one, I'm not looking forward for this episode which explains why the gap between the episodes is so big. Heh, I should probably write this in the diary but it has becomes a habit for me and since I don't do any harm to anyone, I might as well continue what I love doing regardless that I am 8 weeks behind LOL

It all started when Nonako went home without her umbrella since she gave it to the fox. Yuu wanted to buy a new one for her but since he has no monies, he ended up doing odd jobs helping people out. This came about when that mysterious fox requested him to start doing part time job.

And thus the hardship begins. He was harassed by women, friends and children. Remember that he even wore Kuma's suit and that itself was hellish.

But in the end, I have a few laugh especially when that giant koi fish appeared and Yuu's reaction was priceless. Heh, this show threw something funny unexpectedly. Sure there's that slapstick comedy but then there's something like this too. This is why I feel like Persona 4 ain't that bad of a show despite the lack of quality in the animation.

But yeah, this seems more like a filler episode >_>

Persona 4 the Animation: Episode 13

New OP looks good and sounds well... Engrish. Hehe. Looks like the kids will get a break that they deserved after they managed to crack and solve the murder case. Or at least I thought so judging by what was said in the Velvet Room.

The episode starts off with Nanako giving an umbrella to a drench fox that wore what looks like a baby bip. When asked by her father, she lied and said she lost it. It also shows that Yuu was pretty busy lately. He rarely eats dinner at home and it seems like Nanako missed him.

(c) Mika Takeda

So she decided to be a detective and finds out what Yuu has been up to. She trails him but was distracted when she found Teddy and thus she lost him so she will continue to trail him until she gets the answer she was looking for. Turns out the guys have no idea what Yuu has been up to lately so when they found Nanako all dressed up, they decided to help her out too.

Guess what though, Yuu is acting like a real hero helping out people. He pretended to be Teddy by wearing his Teddy suit, helping out a child, woman and old lady. Obviously his friends would doubt him and think he was a pervert but everything will be set right at the end.

Jeebus this is one hell of a boring episode unless you are a lolicon.

Everything will be explained in the next episode though. Not sure I am interested to find out...

Persona 4 the Animation: Episode 12

I have been taking a break from last season anime for a couple of weeks. Time to catch up on things and I figured I should start it with Persona 4. I think this show started strong but as the episodes progressed, it became less entertaining. Hope something will happen to create some excitement to this otherwise dull settings that it sorta stuck with at the moment.

this is far more exciting, honestly!
(c) pixiv id 1251217

Yuu received a Star Arcana this time around. How many does he has now? I lost count. Anyhoo, they are inside the TV world and that psycho challenged them into a game where they are the pawns. As usual, there are lack of planning or the production team thought it was completely normal to have a chat in the middle of Shadows attack. Or maybe they wanted to be funny about it and I just missed the whole thing. Either way, it was Kuma who defeated those lowly Shadows.

Yuu doesn't act like himself today. He kept thinking if they will ever be together again if they managed to solve the case by capturing this psycho who everyone thinks is the killer. That obviously distracted him from a lot of things that were going on.

The killer too has his own Shadows that he needs to fight and conquer.

Just as things are about to get serious, they cut the scene and jumped straight into another scene where they are all hanging out enjoying each other company and have a cook off making rice omelet. And suddenly they said the culprit has been caught. Fast forward a few months, the murder case was forgotten and they still meet like usual. Fast forward another few months, less people showed up for their meet up and Rise was no longer around. They just grew farther apart. I mean, what the hell is going on?

Though it was confusing at first, towards the middle of this shit I realized that this episode deals with Yuu insecurities and how he would feel losing his friends over the time. I bet this was just that Shadow's power or something, and I was spot on.

But it was a good lesson for Yuu to learn. Losing his bond with his friends also means that he loses his Arcana since they are all created from that bond. This makes him powerless and at the same time makes me think if Yuu was being selfish, creating all those bonds for himself? Do his friends feel like they are being used?

Either way, his friends helped him got back on his track and focus to defeat the enemy at hand. They too lost count of all the Arcana Yuu has because he called them all forth. At the end of the day, he was victorious and the psycho admitted being the murderer. Case closed.

And they live a peaceful lives... for the time being.

Urgh so uninspirational >_>

Persona 4 the Animation: Episode 11

I am not happy to learn that Rise's is Lovers Arcana. Hopefully it just a random shit and has nothing to do with the plot because if indeed Yuu and Rise ended up having a relationship, then I might just dropped this. I'm just that intolerant when it comes to character that I dislike. Even Margaret warned him against it.

Anyhoo, another murder in town just when they thought they have figured out the clue. King Moron (the annoying teacher of theirs) didn't appear on TV or in the Midnight Channel. They are back to square one. Shits get a little bit cheesy as they discussed what they should do next while eating a mega beef noodle.

They wanna tried the TV but was surprised to find Teddy in the real world having a blast with the message chair. I'm disturbed that none of the people there were suspicious of Teddy. Did they think he was a mascot or something? Oh wait a minute... looks like he has transformed into a real boy! Pinnochio would have been very jealous of him, I am sure. Even more so if he knew that he becomes a boy so he can score with Yukiko and Chie.

(c) pixiv id 2249592

There is some psychotic guy in town by the way. He might be the King Moron's killer. He has his eyes on Yuu's niece. He was the same guy that confessed to Yukiko several chapters back. He was determined to kill the gang now since they were in the way. He even confessed that he was the killer in the internet but who the fuck will take him seriously. What did he do to prove himself? He turned himself in. Jeebus. And thus I don't believe that he's the killer at all.

It was also revealed that Naoto is helping out the cops with the investigation. Yuu's uncle wasn't too happy about it but since their investigations weren't going anywhere, he doesn't have much of a choice. It was authorized by the higher up anyway so basically that was nothing that he can do about it. But once that psycho was caught, Naoto quickly got the boot. Heh, not for long. I think he'll join Yuu soon.

Since the culprit has been identified, Yuu and the rest of the gang were pretty bumped at the thought of not hanging out together anymore. Jeebus, what? Why not? They are being unnecessarily melodramatic about it. Since none of them wanted that, they decided to continue watching the Midnight Channel and what do you know... that psycho appeared, taunting them.

This ought to be interesting. For the past 10 episodes, we only see Yuu and his friends trying to save whoever it was that got caught and thrown inside the TV world but what will he do when it's someone bad and evil?

p/s: I didn't mention this earlier for obvious reason but Rise has joined the team as well. If she turned out to be a liability then I'm gonna rage and do a Chuck Norris on her.

I wear a megane too! Are we friends as well?

My Top 10: Anime of 2011

It has become sort of a tradition for us fans to list out our top ten anime of the year and since I've been doing it for the past couple of years, I might as well continue with the tradition. I think you can tell a lot from the list as to what the person's preferences are when it comes to anime, and how (or if) it changed over the years.

When I look at my 2010 and 2009 lists, I spotted a difference. Comedy anime pretty much dominated my list in 2010. However, I rather enjoyed anime with heavier plot and solid story in 2009. I am excited to see which anime will make it to the list for 2011.

My top 5 choices were easy but I was having quite a hard time with the bottom 5. Some I like because of the characters but found the story to be weak and the end anti-climatic while some I like for the story but didn't have anything that stood out. I need my criteria sorted out lol. Besides, shits were crazy at the start of the year and I hardly watched anything which mean I missed watching some few good anime like Madoka, Steins;Gate, Hourou Musuko, etc. I am pretty sure that at least my bottom 5 anime would be slightly different if I did completed those shows. Thus, after looking around the aniblogsphere I can see how my list is different from most of them. Oh well...

So for the time being, lets just get on with the list. After a long and very careful deliberation, here are my personal top 10 anime of 2011 in mixed orders:

9. Ao no Exorcist
Aired: Spring 2011
Episodes: 25
Producers: A-1 Pictures, Aniplex
Genres: Action, Shounen, Supernatural
My rating: 9/10

(c) pixiv id 3606202

If it wasn't for the anti-climatic ending and the fact that half of the episodes were fillers, Ao no Exorcist could have ended up higher up on my list because despite everything I just freaking love the Okumura twins. They also managed to keep me interested even through those fillers episodes that included the obligatory beach episode for the summer. At the end of the day, the casts and strong characters became it's backbone and carried this show through for me. Ao no Exorcist is a pretty darn typical shounen anime and A-1 Pictures knew this so when the series can't be original, they sure as hell live up to expectation by making sure that it was entertaining with a decent story for me to enjoy.

6. Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san!
Aired: Spring 2011
Episodes: 13
Producers: Production I.G.
Genres: Comedy, Supernatural
My Rating: 9/10

Each episode is only 12 minutes long but it manages to offend pretty much everyone and everything which in my opinion what makes this show so brilliantly funny. The comedy was unconventional and the characters even more so. Azazel-san pretty much reminds me of Gintama with it's random jokes and anything that reminded me of Gintama's humour deserved to be in my top 10 list. Beware though, enter at your own risk.

2. Ano hi Mita Hana no Namae O Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai
Aired: Spring 2011
Episodes: 11
Producers: A-1 Pictures, Aniplex, Fuji TV
Genres: Slice of life, Drama
My Rating: 10/10

(c) XI-Hypocrisy-IX

This show is as real as it gets when it comes to dealing with friendship, death and feelings and learning to deal with all that while day after day you grow farther apart from each other yet the attachment, or that bond, is still as strong as ever. Ano Hana for short (We Still Don't Know the Name of the Flower We Saw That Day - for the long English translation), hits so close to home that even to this day, I can't bring myself to watch the last episode of the show. I am not ready for either a disappointment, or a heartbreak. With Ano Hana, I was forced to see, consider and analyze far more than what would be considered healthy. Thanks to this show, it gave me the courage to seek those friends that I thought would have been best forgotten. Meeting them again was liberating and it made me see how much each of us have grown up as a person, either for better or for worse. For an anime show to have that kind of effect on a human being in real life, Ano Hana is definitely quite special in it's own right.

5. Kimi to Boku
Aired: Fall 2011
Episodes: 13
Producers: J.C. Staff, Aniplex
Genres: Slice of life, Comedy, Drama
My Rating: 9/10

(c) pixiv id 2678365

There is no practicing of trash music, or tea time after school. If you think this is the male version of K-ON than you are incredibly wrong so for the haters, clearly you are missing out on this one. Granted that it is full of bishies, but what is wrong with that? If us females can watch Lucky Star or K-ON, then it is definitely manly of you guys if you could watch this without feeling disgusted. People have the pre-notion that this show has no plot and is just a BL fantasies for us fans/gays. It is anything but that. Kimi to Boku tackles real issues growing up as boys (I grew up surrounded by boys so I have an idea or two). It was an honest show and because of that I found it alluring and it left me wanting more.

4. Fate/Zero
Aired: Fall 2011
Episodes: 13
Producers: ufotable, Aniplex, Nitroplus
Genres: Action, Fantasy, Supernatural
My Rating: 10/10

(c) Yukihime

I know shit about Typemoon and thus why I have some doubts going into the Fall season, as I've said in my preview. However after watching the first episode, and the fact that ufotable didn't disappoint me at all with their delivery, I quickly become a fan. Part of it was thanks to Reiki, a reader of my Fate/Zero episodic posts who never got tired in teaching me the ropes about the Fate-verse and gradually made me interested in it as well. It's true what the saying goes then... tak kenal maka tak cinta (you can't fall in love if you didn't know them). Fate/Zero far surpasses Fate/Stay Night, it's predecessor, in every way imaginable. I love Kara no Kyoukai for the dark themes and I basically got what I was asking for in Fate/Zero due to the awesomeness of ufotable, from the directing, visuals, character expositions and everything/anything else you can think of. It all adds up into a much more complex and intriguing tale, a journey that is certainly unforgettable and definitely fulfilling.

1. Working'!!
Aired: Fall 2011
Episodes: 13
Producers: A-1 Pictures
Genres: Comedy
My Rating: 10/10***

(c) Atsu Takashi

Wow, really klux? Two years in a row? YES REALLY. Working'!! is a fine piece of work. The changed of director and crew for the the second season really did pay off as can be seen from the story. Everything from the animation to sound, characterization to story are all quality materials and together form both a visually and emotionally satisfying experience. The anime is far past the point of debate whether watching it would be enjoyable and worth one's while, because it most certainly is. The comedy is casual and yet hit with such force that all you can do is laughed your ass off. Unlike in first season where the focus was only on Inami and Takanashi, we have different plots that keep us on our toes because the way Working'!! is written you don't know what to expect. Most of the comedies I watched were average if not mediocre so when something like Working'!! comes along, something new, something exciting, something that you can watch and be merry about, I just ended up enjoying it. The fact that it had pique my interest from season 1 meant that it had established itself as something special, something good enough that A-1 Pictures able to be improved on after every episodes. Just how did they do it, really? For everything that Working'!! does just beautifully right, there is usually little it gets horribly wrong. I absolutely endorse this anime to anyone even if they didn't ask for my opinion.

7. Persona 4 the Animation
Aired: Fall 2011
Episodes: tbc
Producers: Aniplex, AIC A.S.T.A, Sentai Filmworks
Genres: Mystery, Supernatural, Adventure
My Rating: 9/10

(c) pixiv id 1329357

I didn't play the games but from what I've heard from those who did play and watch the anime, the anime is pretty faithful to the games and though it has it shares of pros and cons, I want to pay my respect for the producers. I thought it would be straight as an arrow and just action from end to finish. Persona 4 surprised me at the humors which I didn't expect from such show and it is mostly the reason why it ended up on my list. Since the show is on going, it wouldn't be fair to exaggerate so I ended my thoughts here.

10. Ikoku Meiro no Croisée
Aired: Summer 2011
Episodes: 12
Producers: Satelight, Sentai Filmworks
Genres: Slice of life, Historical
My Rating: 9/10

(c) Nya?

This show was the biggest surprised for me for the summer. It wasn't even on my radar until I watched the first couple of episodes. Croisee was mostly overlooked and quickly disregarded by many because just like me, the initial reaction to the preview was that this anime is nothing more than another "moe-trash" and simple pandering. Well, true that Yune was moe but damn she's adorable. This comes from someone who has a personal vendetta against moe (that of K-ON's standard). I love the interaction between the characters especially the two main protagonists. I found myself leaning a bit closer to the computer screen whenever the scene involved Yune and Claude. In fact, I didn't feel the slightest of guilt trying to make Claude a lolicon. Croisée of the Foreign Labyrinth is a piece of resistant to much of the failings that we often found in both historical and slice-of-life anime.

3. Mirai Nikki
Aired: Fall 2011
Episodes: 26
Producers: FUNimaton, Asread
Genres: Thriller, Action, Mystery
My Rating: 10/10

(c) pixiv id 345349

I love blood in my anime but sadly we didn't get enough of that lately. Deadman Wonderland was promising but damn it all those censorship, as well as the weak ass story, made me quickly lost my interest. Mirai Nikki on the other hand has a compelling story and a company of pretty wacky characters, especially Yuno Gasai, who quite possibly the only character that made this show so much win. Mirai Nikki has everything I am looking for in anime that isn't a comedy or a slice-of-life. It is a psychology thriller, with murders, gore, sins and some demented killers. They are the mechanics that makes this show so addictive. Nutcase is the right choice of word that really sums up Mirai Nikki as a show. Haters be damned.

8. Chihayafuru
Aired: Fall 2011
Episodes: 25
Producers: Madhouse Studios
Genres: Drama, Sports
My Rating: 9/10

(c) pixiv id 280496

The general idea that this show is about a Karuta card game should put us all to sleep but after one episode, most of us has nothing but praise for this show. It wasn't just about the card game, which they successfully made it looks like it was an exciting game, but it also has that element of friendship and romance that surrounded the three main protagonist. I quickly found myself rooting for Taichi, knowing very well how hurt and lonely it could be when your love is unrequited. The fact that I can identified with Taichi should be enough reason why this show ended up in my list but that is not all. The premise is simple and yet the story is so well written/thought of that it will just pull you deeper with every passing episodes. This is an anime that is best experienced one episode at a time as it thrives from the long exposure.

And so ladies and gentlewomen... that concludes my list. I'm pretty balance with my choice of anime of 2011 from heavy stuff that involved friendship, murders, horrors, and even Master/Servants relationship to the more light hearted comedy with a dash of slice of life (and perhaps a little BL) in it.

I wished for the anime industries to have better anime produced in 2011 and my wish was granted. Compared to previous couple of years, 2011 can be said as a come back year for some anime. They have everything that taste just right for my palate from thought-provoking anime to slice of life anime about boys instead of girls. Hopefully 2012 would be even grander than 2011.

Having said that, from 2011/12 Winter season preview... it looks rather disappointing... T_T

Persona 4 the Animation: Episode 10

I guess sooner or later I should watch this episode to move on to the other episode of Persona 4 the Animation. Like I said in my previous rant in episode 9, I really don't like Rise as a character and she kinda ruined this show a bit for me even though I have been told that she will only gets better. I sure hope they are right, for their sake.

Yuu got a warning from the Velvet room. Margaret warned him of the peril that he will face soon and not even the combined strength of his Arcana is enough to stop it. But meh, I will not take that warning seriously because his friends and their Persona will definitely not abandoned him.

The Midnight Channel once again showed the slutty Rise. I bet the guys can't wait to get inside the TV now knowing that she's gonna strip for them. I mean, even Yuu has his jaw hanging like a wolf. Men disgust me sometimes.

I was a little disappointed T_T

Rise's shadow took a form of a pole stripper and I gotta say that comparing this with the other shadows, her designed was probably the simplest and the most eye-catching. It also has a neat trick up her sleeves. She scanned her opponents and instantly knew of their weakness as Persona and thus they were defeated quite easily. This time helped came from unexpected source: Kuma/Teddy and so the pole dancing Shadow was taken down. As usual only then Rise accepted who she was and she lives happily ever after (well, NOT if I have anything to do with it!)

The episode was far from over though because suddenly another shadow appeared and it belongs to Kuma/Teddy. The TV world as they knew it started to collapsed. All hopes are not lost yet though because Rise's Persona (named Himiko), just like her shadow earlier, is able to learn the weakness of it's opponent and so she called out Himiko and used it against Teddy's Shadow. Mostly though, it was Teddy who did all the work. It didn't give up even when he was sucked into the abyss of nothingness. For that it deserved to have it's own Persona. At least now we know that he wasn't an empty vessel.

I was hoping that we have seen the last of Rise in the episode but damn it she has joined the group to search for the killer too. Urgh two were good, three were okay, fourth were tolerarable and more then that were just a crowd. I'm not digging it.

Anyway, it looked like there was another dead victim for the next episode. They better hurry and find the killer soon before the body count increased again.

Persona 4 the Animation: Episode 9

It looks like Yuu have another Arcana through the bond that he created with his friends. This Arcana is called Hanged Man and I think he'll be needing it in this episode when he has to fought a shadow.

That shadow surely will belong to Rise, an idol who was tired of her star life and decided to take a break at Inaba, where the guys are. She met Yuu first and of course Yuu has no clue of who she was until he saw her on the news. The guys thought that Rise could be the next victim and they were right. Rise appeared in the Midnight Channel wearing nothing but pantsu and bra. Well, it certainly fits the title of the episode: "no one sees the real me".

meet Rise

They went to Rise's tofu shop and told her about the Midnight Channel and the kidnapping that has been going on around that town. In the middle of their conversation, Yuu's uncle came in and he certainly wasn't happy to see Yuu there, even more so when he knew they had warned Rise to be careful.

They stalked her and helped her out with her fan but she was still pretty much being targeted by the culprit. I am not happy thought that she's spending way too much time with Yuu.

YousukexYuu 4EVA!
(c) pixiv id 3664712

Rise said that being an idol wasn't the real her but she was only deceiving herself. She loved that kind of life which was why she was affected when her manager came to Inaba bearing news of her rival Kanami getting the lead role that was supposed to be hers. The always observant Yuu noticed this but of course Rise was being a bitch and denied it to the best of her abilities.

Urgh, just let the culprit took her, which he did at the end of the episode. This means the guys are going inside the TV to rescue her in the next episode. I do not look forward to that.

After two very enjoyable episodes, this one kind of a set back. The animation quality for this episode was kinda sad. At one time they just say there and kept exchanging words like retards. Sometimes the hands were bigger than the face as well. Or maybe I was just being a nitpick fucker because I don't like Rise.

I think Yousuke looks way hotter than Rise as a girl
(c) Mikuni

p/s: Sometimes Rise sounded like Kagura and I can't help but smiled at that. But other than Kagura, I always ended up hating Rie's characters. Also, there is nothing wrong with Chie's legs, as Yuu has observed.

indeed :3

27 November 2011

Persona 4 the Animation: Episode 8

Igor was once again not presence when Yuu went to the Velvet Room. Only Margaret was there to greet him and told him that he has yet again obtained another Arcana: the Emperor. I guess that's Tatsumi Kanji's Persona.

Anyway, it is already Summer and the kids no longer have to wear that hideous coat. I gotta say that I'm digging the school Summer uniform, and in a totally perverted way too. I guess Yousuke and I can be the best of friends in this regard lol.

I can't help it ^__^"

And since it's Summer, it wouldn't be complete without a school camping trip. Well, at least this is better than a beach episode, right? In fact this was way better since they helped cleaning up the forest too. Yep, they definitely sending the right message to the audience.

Turned out that both Yukiko and Chie were a phailure when it comes to cooking. I can understand if it was just Chie but Yukiko too? She sure looks like someone who is good at house chores, including cooking, don't you think? I was laughing so hard when Yousuke and Yuu almost died from eating their curry. The reaction, especially that of Yuu, was just too funny even though I have already expected it.

But hey worry not. Aika to the rescue! lol she can deliver food basically anywhere, can she and she's available 24/7 too. How convenient.

Also, looked like Yousuke's dream to sleep in the same tent with the girls really did comes true though it wasn't as pleasant as he hoped it would be. And what do you know, we still got to see the girls in swimsuit all thanks to Yousuke's thoughtfulness. I just have so much fun with all of the scenes regarding this paragraphs. Bear in mind that I am usually very critical when it comes to swimsuit scenes so once again Persona 4 the Animation has done it the right way. I love the exchanged of reactions between the boys and the girls and Yuu with his deadpan face... he can't do wrong with that.

lol with the gay joke

lol Yuu, you!

If that wasn't enough to make me laugh, the fact that Kanji got rejected by the Pig just got me laughed harder. That was unexpected and a tad of embarrassing to watch lol. NANJASORIA indeed.

But it wasn't all fun and games for Yuu and Yousuke. They found Konishi Naoki who blatantly said that he hated them both out of the blue. Well, I guess he has grudged against Yousuke because of his sister's murder.

what's up with that perm of a hair?

Half way through the episode, Kanji joined them and so they learned about Naoki a little bit more since he was Kanji's childhood friend. In fact, he practically dragged Naoki to where the guys were and suddenly they all became a best of friends. Turned out Yuu just have to offer him a bowl of beef noodle to get him opened up. That and not sugar coating his questions. It made sense that Naoki felt more alive with these guys since everyone else were just trying to ensure that he was okay, that he wasn't affected by the murder and have a high expectation of him.

This just fired up the guys to catch the culprit as soon as possible but we kept hearing the same words being repeated over and over again without much progress. Oh well, at least they have awakened their persona. They kept trying to find clues and connection of the murders.

But what about Chie and Yousuke? They didn't count as victims, do they?

Maybe they got it right this time. After all, everything seem to be connected to a TV one way or the other from the Midnight Channel to how they are sucked into that TV world. So they were going to pay more attention to the TV and checked out different channels just to be sure. I reckoned they will be quite busy because it tends to rain a lot during the summer right? And so they'll be more Midnight Channel than usual?

*shrugs* I was just guessing.

Anyhoo, yay for another fun and well written episode of Persona 4. I seriously have no complain about this show as of yet. Yep, I'm a happy camper!

25 November 2011

Persona 4 the Animation: Episode 7

You gotta love Yuu's deadpan reaction when he saw Tatsumi on the Midnight Channel. The fact that he recorded it was just priceless. Tatsumi is definitely has some complex. He is all tough on the outside but is actually very sensitive and caring in the inside. He even helped a boy by making a handmade keychain from scratch.

Anyway, Yuu, Yousuke, Chie and Yukiko went inside the TV to rescue Tatsumi but Yousuke and Yuu quickly changed their mind when they saw what they are up against. I can't blame them though. I admit that it was grossing me out too, hearing all those sex talks and what not. But of course Chie didn't let them back down from the mission though she quickly lost her patience too.

I lol'd so hard XD

This is definitely one of the most fun rescue mission ever! It just one sexual innuendos after the other and I love sexual innuendos when they are meant to make you laugh. I mean, I can't even take Tatsumi's Shadow seriously.

orgasmic

Having said that, they were having a hard time defeating the Shadow because of the sexual tensions which mean it is time for Yuu to up the game. At the beginning of the episode, inside the Velvet Room, Igor and Margaret told him that if he ever need them, he just have to asked and asked them he did, which awakened his wild card's true power. He infused two cards together that called forth a snake like monster. LOL I should have known. It's not like the Shadow got any complain when the snake attacked them though. In fact, they rather enjoyed it heh.

In the end, the same shit happened. The Shadow was defeated and Tatsumi got his own Persona, which is rather manly in appearance. So now they have one more member to join them in search of the asshole who threw them inside the TV. I suspect the culprit to be Naoto?

Persona 4 the Animation has surprised me yet again with how they balance the pacing and the jokes. This show is definitely one of the strongest show for the Fall in term of the story and overall presentation/deliverance.

Persona 4 the Animation: Episode 6

The old troll is not present in the Velvet Room in this episode and I thought Margaret was referring to Ichijo and Ebihara as the Moon and Strength in the last episode. She referred them as his Arcana, whatever that is. Yep, after 5 episode, I am still unfamiliar with the jargon. Someone explain it to me please. Or maybe I should just ask afkeroge.

can I ship these two already?

Yuu, Yousuke, Yukiko and Chie all came together to discuss about the murders that were happening. They were definitely trying hard to solve the puzzle using what little clues they had:

  • Yukiko remembered answering the door but can't recall who was calling her
  • Midnight Channel that warns them of the next victim
  • All victims have a connection with Ms Amano (the first victim)

It was not a coincident that the Midnight Channel showed the new character for this episode: Kanji Tatsumi, a delinquent first year student who is so famous, he gets on the news for terrorizing the town lol. In my opinion, he was just misunderstood. No bad guys go around carrying a cute and cuddly bunny keychain, or do they? But gay guys do lol

he's so gay, when he farts, flower came out of his ass

So they followed Kanji around, even stalking his textile shop to see if there was any development. In the end, they were all caught and had to run for their lives. They were not the people (besides the police) who were interested with Kanji though. Shirogane Naoto approached Kanji head on, which Kanji totally misinterpreted his interest. Naoto looks like he is from a different school. I wonder what his role in this show is. Hopefully he will be another good addition for the show that in my opinion is already full of star studded characters, instead of just Kanji's gay interest.

On a different note, Yuu's uncle had to cancel his leave for Golden Week so Yuu was stuck taking care of Nanako. Chie came by later on to ask Yuu out but since no one was to look after Nanako, they brought her along as well to meet up with Yukiko and Yousuke. As expected everyone falls for her charm. I certainly am not.

Also, it seems like Yukiko sort of has hots for Yuu. Unfortunately for her, Yuu is kind of dense when it comes to this sort of things, just look at last episode for prove. But oh boy we sure do get a lot of blushing going on in this episode, don't we? XD

not very convincing, are you?

This week episode was definitely full of comedic relief from Kanji blushing to Aiya delivering meals while they were on the run. I was definitely laughing my ass off as Yukiko gave Chie small changed for the beef noodles lol. Yep, despite the lack of logic, I was thoroughly entertained so no complain whatsoever from yours truly. It kinda reminds me of Gintama and anything that reminds me of Gintama is made of win.

win!

I can't wait for next episode where the shadows of Kanji is revealed. Looking at the Midnight Channel, I am pretty sure Yuu, Yousuke, Chie and Yukiko will have so much fun lmao. Watching Yuu's deadpan reaction to it was enough. I can't stop grinning like a fool XD

And so I have to end this episodic review with a fanart of Yuu. I just have to!

Persona 4 the Animation: Episode 5

Chie took charge of Yuu's club activity and suggested him to join the basketball team. Their classmate, Ichijo Kou, is the captain of said club and welcomed Yuu with open arms. Yuu couldn't say no to Kou seeing that his other members don't take the team seriously. Yuu also met the team's manager, Ebihara Ai, who at the beginning of the episode sorta force herself onto Yuu. She better not kiss him!

Ebihara Ai is definitely not a good influence on anyone. She sorta forced Yuu to ditch class to help her out buying some "stuffs" for the team. The truth was, she just want someone to carry her bags while she shops. I am surprised that Yuu just did as she says. I wished he just tell her to fuck off and not be her doormat like that. Please don't tell me that he likes her!

(c) Kazuaki

Thank goodness she just sending the wrong signal. Apparently she likes Ichijo. Well, I can't blame her. I too think Ichijo is mighty fine, whats with his skills with the ball, if you know what I mean. Good news is (well, bad news for Ebihara), Ichijo likes Chie. Before Yuu knows what happened, he is once again forced into a situation. This time he has to be the cupid for Ebihara and Ichijo, both need help in the love department.

Once Ebihara knew the truth, she was so heartbroken she wanted to kill herself. Yuu should just let her do what she wanted but being the hero that he is, he stopped her from jumping off the school building. It was because of this kindness that he is now in a bind when out of the blue Ebihara asked him to go steady with her. She even stole his first kiss, that damn slut! Gah Yuu, stop being a doormat and just say no to her face! Who cares if she killed herself! A person like her does not deserved to live anyway.

love rectangle?

Hooray for Yousuke who completely read the situation the wrong way but somehow is able to make things better. He suggested Chie to be the new manager of the basketball team. Obviously Ichijo is all flowery and blushing at the news. It's a coincidence that the upcoming game is going to be Ichijo's last game and he could use Chie to fire his spirits up.

The team lost the game while Chie and Ebihara had a girl fight outside the court. Since they lost, Ichijo changed his mind about quitting the team and Ebihara realized that she can never love someone else. That means Yuu has now been released from being her love slave. Thank goodness.

So this episode is focus more about the friendship/relationship of the characters than their Persona. We have two loves confessions, that of Ebihara and Ichijou, and left wondering who Chie and Yuu like. Yousuke might not be too far off with his deduction but we can only guess though I think it would be great if indeed Yuu and Chie end up together.

I think it was a nice change that we don't have any Persona coming out in this episode. If this episode was another one like the last couple of episodes, I might quit it for being too cliche for my taste. Besides, I get to meet Ichijo and Nagase and they are hawt as hell so no complains from me!

p/s: inside the velvet room, Margaret said something about the Moon and Strength. I have to write it down here so I won't forget.

Persona 4 the Animation: Episode 4

Yuu was complimented once again during his visit to the Velvet Room. I'm not sure whose persona does Chariot Arcana belongs to but I assumed it belongs to Chie.

The search for Yukiko continues as Chie is all fired up to save that friend of hers. They sorta found her but it was only her Shadow playing games with them. I guess this means that Yukiko too will get her own Persona, if she manages to accept that other side of hers of course. Problem with Yukiko is, she doesn't want to get stuck with the inn but at the same time she knows there is nothing she can do about it. She was hoping that Chie will help her escape from such wretched fate but how was Chie supposed to know is she doesn't tell her anything?

Yukiko is obviously gay for Chie. I won't call my girlfriend as my prince >_>
(c) yamakawa

This got me thinking that maybe the previous victims were dead because they can't accept the darker side of themselves and thus they were consumed by it. At least this was the trend that I spot inside of this TV dimension.

Anyhoo, back to the episode, Chariot Arcana is indeed belongs to Chie. Unfortunately though there was nothing much they can do since Yukiko other self sort of stronger and have them in a bind (but not for long). I'm sure it just a way to awaken Yukiko and has her in control of her Persona but I thought the whole saving her thingy was reeked with bullshit (if you can't tell already, I do not like Yukiko).

In the end, as expected of them, the trio managed to save Yukiko. And suddenly there are four >_>

(c) Mhr

So we get to see another one of Yuu's Persona: Ara Mitama that looks like a red apostrophe and has the ability to resist physical attack, just like Miranda told him earlier in that Velvet Room. I wonder if Yuu will continue to get more Persona as he helps his friend getting their own Persona. Should be fun to see what will he (or the others) gets next.

Chie's Persona, The Chariot, is just as badass as she is. I guess that should speak for itself. They are called Persona after all, duh. Comparing The Chariot with Yukiko's Persona, hers is obviously more fugly as Yukiko's reflect her beauty to the T. I still don't like her though.

Apparently, this episode is sort of insightful as they delved deeper with what happened to Yukiko where else in the game, they just basically have the Shadow of Yukiko saying she wanted to be free etc and soon after defeated. Hmm, since I don't play the game and is not a fan of Yukiko, I just found this episode tiring and can't wait till it's over. The laughing fits? Pfftt though I must admit Chie looks cute in those glasses ^_^

p/s: I should write this down simply because if I don't my memory will phailed me. The Persona so far: Yousuke's Persona is called Jiraiya. Yuu's are Izanagi, Ara Mitama and Pyro Jack/Jack Lantern while Chie's is The Chariot.

Persona 4 The Animation: Episode 3

I'm not happy that I'm late for this episode but that what happened when I traveled; my schedule often fucked up and I don't always have reliable internet connection. I remember back in February when I was at Bandung, Indonesia, this blog hardly got any update and my reader stats plummeted. I'm still trying to recover from it. Anyway...

Yousuke's Persona is known as Magician Arcanum and the power of his Persona depends on the bond between him and Yuu. Or that's how I understand it as it was explained in the Velvet Room.

Chie's kick: you don't see it coming

When Chie can't contacted Yukiko, she came running to school to meet Yuu and Yousuke. She had reasons to worried since all three of them thought they saw Yukiko in the Midnight Channel the night before. Chie was obviously distressed about it. Yukiko has been her friends since they were a child.

They all went to the store again to check things out but Kuma (the bear) said he didn't sense anyone else in that other dimension. They were skeptical and so they decided to check the Midnight Channel again tonight and whadda ya know... Once again Yukiko appeared, seemingly ready to give up her virginity as she searched for her prince.

So the three of them decided to meet up the next day when Yousuke brought fake swords with him which aroused suspicion from the public and authority. I can't help but laughed at his idiocy. If I found his comic relief rather annoying at first, it has begin to grow on me.

I am aroused as well lol

Yuu and Yousuke were brought in to the police station for questioning. After all two murders happened not too long ago. They have to be careful.

Chie waited for them at the police station and what they feared happened: Yukiko has gone missing. The police suspected her as the murderer which made Chie lost her self control and made her determined to save Yukiko and clean her name. So they went inside and arrived at the place where Yukiko was last seen in the Midnight Channel. Even Kuma agreed that Yukiko was there.

Since Chie didn't wear the glasses, she was oblivious to all the shadows around her so it was up to Yousuke and Yuu to summon their Persona and saved the day. Just like Yousuke, Chie too heard voices of Yukiko and then her other self appeared too. Basically Chie had to go down the same route as Yousuke to obtain her Persona. Because I've seen it before, it became quite bothersome and borderline cliche.

But she served her purpose. In the moment of distressed Yuu learned that he was the chosen one thus he received an Arcuna where he can wield more than one Persona. That was how we gotta meet Pyro Jack.

yes, the one to pierce through my bad Barnivall. Man, that joke never gets old lol

In the end, they didn't manage to find Yukiko but Chie has her Persona so the rescue mission will be more fun to watch. At least I hope it will be.

Interestingly I can see the changes in Yuu. He was quiet and seemingly uncaring in the first episode but as he bonds with Yousuke and Chie, he starts to chat more and even developing sense of humor. I loved the quiet Yuu but hell I love a funny Yuu even more! He's so smooth :D

so subtle :D

As I see it, Persona deals a lot with bonds and friendships. I think it was a good concept overall because no matter how egoistic a bastard can be, s/he still needs friend be it imaginary, real or online. We can't live in this damn world of ours without forming a bond with someone. It is just part as human nature. I won't delve much into this since @fkeroge already did so you peeps better read what he has to say about it.

Persona 4 The Animation: Episode 2

Once again the episode starts inside the Velvet Room with Igor and Margaret. Yuu received a Contractor's key and was declared to have the wild card Persona that holds infinite potential. Heh, definitely something that I want to hear.

Yuu, Chie and Yosuke managed to get back to the real world the same way they entered the alternate world: via television. Once back, Yuu saw the same poster that he saw in the alternate world and concludes that it has something to do with the murder. She is after all the wife of the announcer whose bitch was murdered yesterday. But that was as far as the conversation goes.

It was raining the next day and some retard waited for Yukiko in front of the school gate in order to ask her to go out with him. Yukiko declined and off he went but I have a feeling that we have not seen the last of him yet.

There is another murder in town and just like the previous murder, the victim was left hanging from a telephone pole. The victim is none other than the girl Yosuke had his eyes on: Konishi Saki that we met briefly in episode 1, the same girl that Yosuke saw in the Midnight Channel the night before.

Yosuke connected the missing dots and came to the conclusion that whoever appeared in that Midnight Channel show will be the next victim of the Shadows. Somehow the two worlds are connected. Of course that is what really happened but the kids don't know that so they decided to go inside the TV again though this time Chie was left behind.

The Bear welcomed them by accusing that they are the culprits who have been throwing people into the TV world before the fog lifted. Yosuke zipped the Bear opened and it quickly changed his mind. The bear even begged them to find and stop the one who is responsible. Yosuke wanted to decline but when Yuu said no, there was nothing he could do but play along and so he was given a spectacle too.

They went to the place where the Bear last saw Konishi and immediately heard voices after that. Obviously it was a trap, even more so when they heard Konishi saying Yosuke being a pain in the ass. Yosuke almost lost it when another Yosuke appeared, obviously his Persona (or rather his Shadow). He looks kinda evil and that just instantly make him hotter >=3

the best selfcest to date!
(c) Mikuni

Oh I definitely wanted to believe that Yosuke has that inner dark self in him. That would make him far more interesting than just a comic relief for this show. The more he denies it though, the stronger his Shadow becomes. At last Yuu punched some senses into him to stop him from being too pathetic and thus, Yosuke managed to defeat the Shadow and guess what? He gets a card too so now Izanagi has a friend to hang out with.

There are definitely tons of bromance moments in this episode between Yuu and Yosuke. This just reminds me of a doujinshi I read not too long ago about Yosuke's Shadow and Yuu. Heh, that was a good doujinshi >=D

(c) Mogmahiru

Anyhoo, now that Yosuke too has his own Persona, he is all fire up to find the real culprit that causing all these murders. That is just great. Here I am hoping that Chie will be the next one to get a Persona too. I have taken a liking to her within a span of two episodes. She must have done something right. Heh.
