Aku no Hana

It has been a while I got this excited for an anime. In fact, I can't remember the last anime that got me all worked out like this. Needless to say, I think Aku no Hana is a very awesome anime. I definitely recommended it to everyone.

A Year Older: Again

It’s that day when I got another level up in life. I’m turning a year older again today. So many things have changed in a course of a year. I read what I wrote on my birthday last year and I almost choked with laughter at how ridiculous everything sounds.

Goodbye 2012 and Hallo 2013

So overall, year 2012 has indeed been kinder to me. I have achieved what I set out to achieve but most importantly, I unexpectedly found love which is easily the highlight of the year for me.

Light Writings: Love II

I need an outlet to express how I feel nowadays. To be honest, things are going too good for me at the moment to the point that I am sort of living in fear for I do not want these extremely good feelings, and the love I have for him to end. If all these are gone tomorrow, there is a big probability that I might lose sanity.

Light Writings: Crush II

Welp, looks like we are having this conversation again after so many years. Well 2 years and 3 months to be exact. The last time I wrote about my crush, I was in a different state of mind where I know it can be nothing more than just that, a crush.

All my hopes lie with the fact that Madhouse Studios is producing this. Let's hope then that the studio delivers even though the plot is already sounds disappointing. Having said that, after looking at the poster at MAL, my heart sinks: a loli holding a spade? Ah I hope there are other characters that makes watching this worth while...

(c) Shino (Eefy)
And thank goodness they introduced a white hair male protagonist right away otherwise I would have dropped this even before it started.

The plot is about the loli whose name is Ai. She was made to believe that she's a gravekeeper. That title mean something in this alternate world because it has power to keep the dead, well... dead. One day, her world collapse when a Hampnie Hambart went into her town, killed everyone and revealed that she's not really a gravekeeper.

And just like Madhouse, it managed to keep the mystery shit going which makes me intrigued to find out more, not only about Ai but about Hampnie as well.

Mission success, Madhouse. Well done.

First Impression: Oda Nobuna no Yabou

I find myself attracted to anything historical as of late. First it was the Shinsengumi era, then the Nobunaga era. Besides, this one is produced by Madhouse so I expect something tolerable if not great. I did change my mind about it when I saw the character designs so at least they have done something right there.

Ambition of Oda Nobuna is pretty much like any other anime that evolves around Nobunaga: of conquering Japan with his/her sidekick and enemies. In this show though, there is the added element from the future which is Sagara Yoshiharu, a really good looking boy, who somehow ended up in the era and is helping out Nobuna. I'm pretty sure they will end up together eventually but I just can't seem to care.

though I don't mind reading the doujinshi about these two =\

The comedy was cheap and borderline stupid. Most of it comes from the over-reaction from Yoshiharu. The story was weak and doesn't has anything new to add for this genre of anime. Basically I was disappointed.

But like I said, at least Madhouse does something right with the character designs, animation and the whole shebang. They were above average. Too bad the story failed to add value to the arts and animation otherwise this could have been tolerable for me.

Which means I am dropping this show without any regrets whatsoever. I'm not saying that it is shit though. It's just not my cup of tea.

First Impression: Chihayafuru

To be honest, I have no idea what Karuta is. I don't think there are other similar anime out there so I am pretty excited knowing that this show has the potential of being a pioneer and original so here I am going to try and watch this show with an open mind *cross fingers that I won't get annoyed by the female protagonist*

(c) pixiv id 2873428

Heh, I should have not worry at all. I like Chihaya Ayase on the get go, which in my case is pretty spectacular. I just know then that this show will be different.

Chihaya Ayase is awesome. She's pretty but she never flaunts it. She is absent minded but not a bimbo and her attitude is what makes me likes her so much. She wants to create a Kurata club at her high school but no one is interested. Not even her childhood friend from elementary school, Taichi Mashima, who obviously has a hot for Chihaya. Chihaya on the other hand sort of admires another childhood friend of hers that makes her fell in love with Kurata: Arata Wataya. Arata was also the one who makes Chihaya realizes to have her own dreams.

It doesn't take long for me to like Arata either though Taichi is charming in his own way. However, I don't appreciate him for holding a grudge against Arata just because he is too coward to come clean with his feelings towards Chihaya.

Whoaa wait a minute Klux. Hold on to your horses. We are not that far in the story yet :P

I wanna shake the hands of Madhouse production crews for adapting and making anime of this series. I would not have known Chihayafuru otherwise because it is just my unspoken rule not to read shoujo. Though they are yet to explain what Kurata is, I found myself not give a damn anymore. This story of friendship, passion and dreams is well written and brilliantly directed. Damn, I'm already addicted.

Watching Chihayafuru makes me feels like I have found a new love. This show took me by surprise, pleasantly so. The feelings that it gives is just something that money can buy and thus why this has taken Kimi to Boku's first place for my favorite anime of the season so far.

First Impression: Hunter X Hunter (2011)

Another shounen that I'm pretty sure will be one of many backlogs that I have, like Fairy Tail, Beelzebub and Bleach. Either way, since I did promise Daniel that I will pick this up, here I am trying to fulfill that promise of mine, even if it only just one episode. lol why am I saying things as if I already give up on it?

(c) Mogmahiru

I shouldn't, really since of all the production studio, Madhouse actually picked this up. Although they suck at those Marvel adaptations, they are quite good at bringing horror to life. That is what they excel at in my opinion (the only reason I mentioned horror is because Daniel will never recommend me something that do not contain at least an ounce of horror).

But then again, with shounen, the level of horror would have been meek and judging from the character designs, I shouldn't expect this show to blow my socks off. It kinda feel too childish for me, and since I'm 30, maybe this show is a little bit too young for me too.

Oh well, who the fuck cares.

Hunter X Hunter (2011) is about hope, reaching dream of the unknown. Those who strive for it are called Hunters and one of them is our young protagonist Gon. Their mission is to hunt down all sorts of retarded monsters to achieve... whatever they want to achieve. But first they have to pass the Hunter Exam.

Though I think Gon is the most annoying 12 years old kid I have ever seen, there are other characters like Leorio that pique my interest and without me realizing it, I was actually enjoying the entire episode of this seemingly cliche story of adventure and dreams.

First Impression: Blade

To be honest, I have never read Blade thus I am not a fan of it and I am sure it's not wise to rely on the Hollywood adaptation of Blade either, which I only watched bits and parts of it. So my knowledge about Blade is very limited indeed. I doubt that I will be watching this show but true to my words, I am still going to check out all the anime (except that anime regarding boobs) just to satisfy my inner tard.

I have completely forgotten the fact that this show have something to do with Vampires. That's how empty my mind is going in.

Eric Brooks is the hero. His nickname is Blade because he used it to slay the vampires. He himself is half human and half vampire. He got the genes through spits. I couldn't help but snickered. That's a gay way to become a half vampire in my opinion. Her mom died in the process and naturally he seeks vengeance and has been killing vampire ever since. His purpose it too find the four fangs vampire that killed his mom, Deacon Frost.

I would have probably feel less pissed off if the vampires that he killed turned to dust instead of burst into flame in a matter of seconds. That is just bullshit, man. I feel cheated. Or maybe I am just being a nitpick asshole, as I usually do ^_^

The show is not about him only though. There's also a vampire hunter chic name Makoto who goes to work accompanied by her dad. As she fights, the show gets more ridiculous. With just a kick, the vampires all burst into flame and thus so easily defeated. Jeebus, this show is treating me like I'm a kid.

I hated it.

Needless to say, this one is another adaptation by Madhouse. I still think X-Men is probably the only adaptation that they didn't butcher so badly. The others were a bunch of shit, including this one.

Oh Madhouse... just why?

First Impression: X-Men

I wonder if in order to watch this show, I have to complete Wolverine first because if it does, then that's a tell tale sign that this is going to be just as bad like the previous adaptations produced by Madhouse (Iron Man, Wolverine).

I am not a fan of other American superheroes but I am a fan of X-Men. It's the only comic that I spent what little money I have as a child. My favorite X-Men of all time is no other than Gambit. Jeebus, that guy is a hot motherfucker. Ehem... but the reason I like him is because he doesn't always play by the rules and his attitude is to die for. The same can be said about Wolverine but he's lacking in the personalities department and it is safe to say that Wolverine is my least favorite of them all. He and Jean kinda share that spot. If I can choose to be one of the female X-Men, I definitely will pick Rogue, not just because she and Gambit are an item (which mean I can get into Gambit's pantsu) but also because of the power she has. She's cool.

But just like in the movies, I doubt that Gambit will make an appearance in this show and that kinda makes me sad.

The start of the episode was pretty impressive. Jean obviously has turned into Pheonix but that's not what impressed me. It's the character designs. I FREAKING LOVE IT. It feels like the drawings in the comic came to life. Sure they wear different kind of suit but damn they look just like them in the comic. It's hard to believe that Madhouse get this one right when they butchered Wolverine so very badly in their adaptation. However, it's still too early to say since I have at least 20 more minutes to go. I have high hopes though.

Scott is still so very in love with Jean. Something will never change I guess. Unfortunately for Scott, his love life in this one kinda short-lived. Jean sacrificed herself in order to save the world. How fucking noble (NOT). I just don't believe that she's dead is all and I pray that Madhouse won't do the love triangle thingy between Scott, Jean and Wolverine. That would be so freaking old.

Looks like this show is taking place a year after Jean's (supposedly) death. X-Men and the Institute are no longer active but they do gather once in a while for emergency cases. Inner Circle is victorious in that sense I guess. In this episode, they gathered again (except for Mr. Depressed Scott but Wolverine and Storm took care of that) to help out Cat.

And my 20 minutes are up. Needless to say, I am a happy fan.

I feel the need to fap

Credits have to be given to the production team. Xavier Institute looks just like it supposed to, inside and out. Their attention to details are commendable. It definitely shown how much effort they have put into making this episode.

I want more. Wow... this is unexpected.

First Impression: Wolverine

After the phailure of Ironman, I have some reservation for Wolverine as well. I'm afraid that Madhouse will phail me again with the same shit they did with Ironman. When I saw how bishie Logan turned out, I couldn't help myself but laughed out loud at the atrocity of this whole adaptation thingy. Right now, I really think that Madhouse should just let the Americans do their things and stick to what they do best. If this continues, I'm afraid of what might happened to Supernatural. I really hope it is as awesome as the trailer otherwise I'm so gonna rage.

this is perfect
(c) mitsuka yuuya

You know what's even more annoying than having a bishie Logan who looks like a fag? A romantic bishie Logan who looks like a fucking fag. No offense to the gay men out there. I mean, yeah sure he has a thing for Jean Mariko but dammit, at least do it with some class. Gah, listens to me complaining and it's less than 2 minutes in. Oh boy this is going to be quite a ride. They better make up for it with great actions. I expect nothing less than that otherwise this one goes to the recycle bin and will be permanently deleted.

I said that he's a romantic fag, wasn't I? I didn't expect that the story will actually revolve on his love life. Jeebus, and it wasn't even a good story. It was fucking cliche. Dating your enemy's daughter who engaged to a douche? That's so 90's.

This show has nice instrumental OP. Same with the ED, which I think is pretty epic and captured the essence of the show. What I like most however is the BGM. Unfortunately, I don't care about music to get me to stick around. I don't know any of the seiyuu either. The character designs, arts and animation are typical of Madhouse. I don't like it but I usually ignored it because the interesting story they cooked up for me.

However, I am still unsure about this show. The action during the sword fight was decent but meh I wasn't blown away. I think I will watch another episode and see if Yukio can change my mind. If not for her, I would have dropped this and be done with it. I expect Yukio to deliver.

First Impression: Iron Man

(c) kinggainer

The only reason I'm checking this out is because it was produced by Madhouse Studios. I'm not a fan of Iron Man first and foremost. I think American super heroes are superficial. I do however think that Robert Downey Jr. is irresistible in the live action movies.

For this show, Tony Stark is retiring as Iron Man but he did build up Dio, a prototype of Iron Man which will be driven by chosen pilots. Tony Stark went to Japan for the reactor project he started. He was happy because in Japan, supposedly his project won't be manipulated and used for military purposes. Heh, think again Tony.

During an air show, his Dio was hijacked. The same thing happened when the pilot tested it out. I know something like this would happened. It was all too predictable. Obviously Tony will have to be the Iron Man again and save the bloody day. Looks like he also has to fight some other robots that looks like it came from the Alien/Predators movies while the bad guy stole the Dio.

From the OP I know I am going to have some beef with Madhouse in particular the 3D Iron Man. What more, the 3D is not limited to Iron Man only, but is used for all the transportation in this show. Why can't they just stick to 2D. That would really makes a difference in term of my enjoyment with this show. I mean, it's not like they can't do it, but they just took the easy way out. The character designs too kinda phailed to attract me. It is typical Madhouse characters and although I know what to expect it still kinda disappoint me. Maybe I was expecting Gwyneth Paltrow.

Speaking of characters, why the hell does Tony Stark looks like a gay pimp, is a question I want to ask Madhouse. What have they done to him? This is injustice. Oh well, at least they got the attitude slightly right. Dr. Tanaka looks like the typical I'm a professor cum doctor chic and I need to be serious at all time. The reporter Nanami was kinda over the top with the whole get up. I think Madhouse was trying too hard to distinguished these characters.

I can't really say much about the seiyuus. I don't know any of them but they did a pretty decent job with their characters. The OP is likeable because it is instrumental. There's no bullshit about it. Same goes for the ED. It fits the show.

Hmm, I wish I can say that I really enjoy this show but it kinda fall shorts of my expectation. I only enjoyed the part where I search for Iron Man fanart and found that picture above ^^

First Impression: Highschool of the Dead

(c) inazuma

High School of the Dead. This is the most anticipated show this season for one reason and one reason only: BLOOD. If you read the manga you know that they will be a lot of blood, head crushing, bone breaking action and that's why this show has the potential to rock my socks off.

It does not disappoint. In the first minute of the show, there are blood everywhere and this continue to the end of the episode. How freaking awesome is that?!

I feel like I don't have to convince everyone else to see this because hell, I'm sure you all are if you called yourself a tard. If you're not than you are not missing much, right? FUCKING WRONG. Watch this you moron!

The story might not be original, we have seen it in Blood+ and others but the way Madhouse and Sentai Filmworks execute this made it oh so amazing. The characters might be the only qualm for me. I don't like Rei ever, not in the manga and definitely not in the anime. Many would probably sympathize with the bitch but I am not. She's a selfish whore since the beginning and will continue to use Takashi. Takashi on the other hand is yummy. I don't mind being a shota-con for him. Heh. I like the other girls from the manga but since we haven't meet them in the anime, I'll reserved my opinion for the review later.

The seiyuus are great especially that of Takashi. Well duh, his seiyuu is Suwabe Junichi, the same person who does Grimmjow, quite possibly the hottest character in Bleach. Even Rei sounds very convincing. These seiyuus are going to make these characters real to us, and make it possible for us to relate to them. The OP and ED are catchy. I'm gonna hum to these songs in another 2 or 3 episodes and the sound effect is great. We can hear the head crack and smell the blood stench from the blood splatter.

As for the arts and animation, there is the sense of ecchi-ness but it was to be expected. I have no problem with that because they story and animation are so engaging. I mean, I write this whole shit after I have seen the episode, not during (like I used to). And obviously the animation gets high mark from me because of all the blood and all that killing sequences. Heh, I will never stop with the blood and the carnage, will I?

So yeah, unlike Dance in the Vampire Bund that turned out to be a loli-con fest, this is definitely meet my expectation for the series. Another show that I will be following closely this season. That is a total 3 show so far :)

First Impression: Rainbow

This is one of the anime that I wanted to watch after reading the synopsis. The story of Rainbow took place 55 years ago in 1955. It was about seven young criminals of that time and how they were treated while in detention.

In my opinion, the time might be different but the same thing still happened today, how these criminals/juveniles are being mistreated.

For once, the explicit contents of this show is what give it so much character. The violence made me cringed and shuddered in disgust because this reminds me a lot like Sleepers, one of the best book/movie I have ever read/saw. Rainbow definitely has the same platform for a story.

I immediately feels empathy for these juvi characters. As if its not enough they were being abused physically, they also needed to worry about being raped. These treatments were intentional, to break their wills and hopes. That's fucking cruel. If I feel like I want to fucking kill the guards in Sleepers, well, I feel like I want to fucking kill the guards in Rainbow but slowly and painfully. I want them to fucking suffer. A bullet to the head will not do justice. I will roasted their dicks as it is still attached to their balls, then cut it oh so fucking slowly, and fucking stuff it in their mouth. Oh I'll make them chew the damn thing until they died of blood lost! I'll do the same for the pedo fucking doctor. Son of a bitch!

The characters:

Minakami Mario was arrested after he assaulted a teacher who tried to violate a fellow female student.

Tohyama Todayoshi assaulted his mother's boyfriend.

Maeda Noboru was detained for theft, con, dine-and-ditch and other crimes

Yokosuka Jou was detained for violence and improper intergender relationship (remember that this is in the 1955)

Matsu'ura Mansaku was detained for violence and underage drinking

Nomoto Ryuji was detained for con, usurpation and theft

Lucky for them, they were put in a cell with Sakuragi Rokurouta. He's the protagonist, the Brad Pitt in Sleepers. I don't feel like screencap him. Not today anyway.

They do not sugarcoating any shit. Rainbow is definitely the most dark anime of the season. Something that people are not used to and some won't even bother to check this out. However since I'm a fan of something like this, I think it is awesome.

Needless

I have a habit of downloading all the anime of the season. Then I'll check them out. I'll watch the good one that I thought have potential immediately. I put the average one on hold while the shit one... well, directly to the bin.

Needless definitely one of the most shittiest anime I've ever encountered. The WTF-ness of this series is well... FUCKED.

(Please take note that this review is based on the first episode only. I just can't continue watching the rest of this shit.)

The story is about a kid named Cruz or Yamada or who-the-fuck-cares, a crazy ass chick who supposedly to be the relief comedy of the series yet phailed miserably, and a priest who oh-tried-so-hard-to-be-effing-cool because he so wants to be the incarnation on Kamina-sama but OH-FUCKING-WHY did he thinks he's capable of such feat?! These three travel around saving the Needless. Needless is the survivors of the Blackspots who obtained powers or some shit like that. Whatever right? Right.

It was all irrelevant because you don't know what the fuck you are watching anyway. You just stare at the screen and get yourself brainwashed. Not good. Definitely not good. It was 12 minutes of torture trying to get through the bad humor before you get mentally scarred with the appearance of a bad guy who surprise-surprise! exactly like Viral. Yes, another reference to Tengen Toppen Gurran Lagann (TTGL). PHAILED incarnation.

As for the art. It hurts my eyes. They want to do something similar to TTGL but the immitation is far too inferior. I hate it.

The characters are so unoriginal like I have mentioned before. So lets not even go there.

OMG... here comes the best part. Or the worst. The ED vid. I mean WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK? It has nothing to do with the story at all. Yuri? Really? WHY? HOW? JUST WHAT THE FUCK?!! fanservice or fuckservice? You tell me.

Conclusion: Stay the fuck away from this shit unless you are willing to get your mind raped (not the good kind of rape either).
