Aku no Hana

It has been a while I got this excited for an anime. In fact, I can't remember the last anime that got me all worked out like this. Needless to say, I think Aku no Hana is a very awesome anime. I definitely recommended it to everyone.

A Year Older: Again

It’s that day when I got another level up in life. I’m turning a year older again today. So many things have changed in a course of a year. I read what I wrote on my birthday last year and I almost choked with laughter at how ridiculous everything sounds.

Goodbye 2012 and Hallo 2013

So overall, year 2012 has indeed been kinder to me. I have achieved what I set out to achieve but most importantly, I unexpectedly found love which is easily the highlight of the year for me.

Light Writings: Love II

I need an outlet to express how I feel nowadays. To be honest, things are going too good for me at the moment to the point that I am sort of living in fear for I do not want these extremely good feelings, and the love I have for him to end. If all these are gone tomorrow, there is a big probability that I might lose sanity.

Light Writings: Crush II

Welp, looks like we are having this conversation again after so many years. Well 2 years and 3 months to be exact. The last time I wrote about my crush, I was in a different state of mind where I know it can be nothing more than just that, a crush.

My Top 10: Anime of 2010

edit: I keep forgetting to post this one up. Oh well, who cares if I'm outdated anyway?

This has turned out as a tradition for most of us. I feel obligated to name my top ten anime for 2010 since I did the same thing for 2009. It's good to keep track, is all I'm saying and after watching the first two abysmal anime for the winter, I feel like it is even more important to pull out that gems from all the rubbish and gave it a proper recognition.

As usual lets start from the big numbers. Noted that this is my own personal preference. Be damn if you disagree :D

10. Seitokai Yakuindomo

(c) koga

If it wasn't for Glo, I probably wouldn't have bothered with this show. I glad that I let his opinion gets to me and thus I marathoned this show, something that I wasn't able to do for quite sometimes. The reasons that I was able to enjoy this show a lot are because of two things: the characters and the sex jokes. It might get old to some but I just freaking loving it. Too bad the last episode was just some reminiscing shit otherwise this one could end up with 9 for ranking.

9. Arakawa Under the Bridge

(c) eriyama

SHAFT did it again. This one is fresh and something different from the usual. I like different. This one certainly has that originality feel to it whether it's the art style or the story line. Can't say that I enjoy the second season more than the first one though. The quality of the two is too far apart. They tried to deepen the romance plot between Nino and Ko but it all just seemed too forced. If I feel the first season was lacking, the second season is worse.

8. Ookiku Furikabutte: Natsu no Taikai Hen

(c) haco

This one is totally picked for bias reasons. Reason number one is because I really did enjoy it a lot. The first season of this show can be considered my getaway anime for the sports genre. Needless to say, I was grateful to A1-Pictures for brought in the second season. I hope there is more :)

7. Star Driver

Kiraboshi! .v.>

When I first saw this show, I didn't take it seriously. I still do not taken it seriously till this day but there are just something about this show that made me enjoyed every episode so far. Maybe it's the Glittering Crux signal that I've been saying and implementing to unsuspecting people in real life, or the potential of yaoi between Sugata and Takuto or simply because of the absurdness of the exaggerations. Male mecha wearing heels? Only available in this show, man. Even with all that, the production team still takes anime seriously and produces quality anime. Kudos.

6. Giant Killing

(c) inudic

These made two anime sports in the list. Awesome. Giant Killing is basically one man show of Tatsumi. I just love how witty and cool he is. He reminds me of Jose Mourinho, who is one of my favorites, so it really is a plus. By the end of the show, I feel like I have bonded with the rest of the players as well. That was how I felt exactly when I finished Oofuri season one several years ago. That's a sign of a good show.

5. Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin

I just finished watching the whole show last week. I kinda put it on hold half way through. I forgot whether it was because I'm too busy with work or the story kinda put me to sleep but either way I glad I picked this one up again. It was still kinda out of this world with the whole occult and alien thingy but that's not why this show ended up in my top 5 anime of the year. This show reminds me of how important character development is. I kinda lost track for a while and never really give a damn about it but it goes to show how character development can turn a show around. Abe in the last episode is not the Abe you knew in episode 2. That was cool. And then there's the fact that it was produced by A1-Pictures and I just love Kozue as a character.

4. Durarara

http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=572026

I still have a couple of episodes to go and I'm saving the episodes for my moody day but as far as what I've seen so far, this one definitely deserved to be in the list for the sheer awesomeness of Izaya and each of the characters alone.

3. Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu

(c) kanata daiki

I love the hilarity of the whole show except when Himeji being moe and shit but whatever, Kouta still rocks. I wasn't expecting to like this show when I saw the preview chart but I ended up couldn't get enough of it. There are not much going on but the story is cleverly written to make it seems interesting and with a touch of funneh, this was a perfect mix for comedy. I am waiting with anticipation for season two. Hopefully it won't focus on Himeji and Yoshii because that would ruin the whole shit. I have high hopes indeed.

2. Kuragehime

(c) inoue mop

When I saw Kuranosuke, I sold my soul to the devil. When I saw Shuu, I bargained with the angel to let me in. I'm torn and that's why this one is so deliciously gooooood.

1. Working!!

(c) 48

The only show that I thoroughly enjoyed. I love the love triangle, the scheming, the androphobic, the cross dressing, the characters development, basically I love everything about it. Even with Kuragehime I raged at some point. Not with this one here. Every episode is entertaining and I really didn't have any idea what to expect. Just like Abe, I totally have different opinions about Takanashi by the time I've seen the last episode and just like Baka to Test Shoukanjuu and Kuragehime, I can't fucking wait for the second season. I hope there's one. There will be one, won't it? RIGHT?

Honorable mention: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya

http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=199874

Simply a master piece.

Honorable mention: Cat Shit One

Fluffy bunnies carrying machine guns killing camels. You'll be crazy not to like this one.

And that ladies and gentlemen, concludes the year of 2010. Making this list made me realized how shitty the shows are as the year keeps adding up a number. Something needs to be done. Instead of doing some really lame and super dumb anime, they should stop producing and focus more on the quality of the anime and think of a plot that can put you on the map.

Diary of a tard - Week 5, September 2010

Sunday, September 26

Aight enough of work. It is Sunday. It is time for me to dedicate my time to manga. Yes, I have decided that Sunday is my manga day!

So lets start off with Naruto. I can only see Ichigo in the color spread. Heh. But anyway looks like Madara has successfully get the rinnegan from Nagato in chapter 511 which mean Konan is officially dead what with the flashback with Jiraiya and shit. Was I dense? Because I never sense any romance going on between Yahiko and Konan before but apparently they were involved. I always thought it was Nagato/Konan before. Sheesh, that was embarrassing. So that's the end of the trio and with a new mask, Madara will get the Kyubi himself.

I don't feel as much passion for Ares lately because I think Ares has changed as a person. He used to be adorable but formidable but now he's just a killing machine. I still love Michael and Baroona though so I decided I might as well continue reading the manga. In chapter 136, he just killed another one of Michael's soldier. And another until Esteban stepped forward and challenged him. Esteban btw is cool as fuck. He reminds me of Michael. Unfortunately if you are up against Ares, that means either a) you get killed or b) severely injured. This is so shounen.

Blame! chapter 4: Killy destroyed a lab he found. One of Nihei's flair is to tell a story without dialogs. It was all based on visual and this chapter, Killy didn't say a word but his actions tell a lot. It is something I respect of Nihei.

It has been a while. Flags chapter 7: Nagasu has to fight the snake woman who breed giant fire snakes that will explode when it got struck. How convenient it is that Nagasu is a fire fighter?

Completed Gunmania. Too bad this manga is only three chapters because it is funneh. In this last chapter, he met a suicidal kid and a homo stalker. I'm giving it a 9 out of 10 because of this chapter XD

Hi no Matoi chapter 2: Isshin's identity as the heir was revealed. Kotarou ain't happy about it though. For some reason he really can't stand samurai and people who lied even though Isshin saved his life in the last chapter. Since he is so stubborn, Kashira appointed him as Isshin's caretaker. The reason Kotarou hates samurai is because his younger brother was killed by one and Isshin looks a lot like his dead brother. By the end of the chapter though, all is well.

Monday, September 27

It has been a day of emotional mess. I need some humor to pick myself up back again. I decided on Mitsudomoe episode 6. Futaba bonding with her father in the night before the sports meet. We found out that Hitoha has a phobia with heights. In the third segment, Hitoha met her young exorcist assistant again and stripped the feverish Yabecchi. Laughed out loud. Though the last segment kinda killed the joyous mood a bit. Mitsuba is so predictable.

Wednesday, September 29

I rather enjoyed Bleach episode 290 because Tousen is fucking stupid in his new outfit XD

In the mood for Arakawa Under the Bridge. Episode 9: Heart broken Hoshi becomes the ingredient of a thank-you-meal and Kou worried that Stella will end up like Hoshi if she found out that Sister like Maria. Well, of course she founds out and wants Maria's head on a platter. Little that she know that Maria is a fucking bad ass. The best thing about this episode is Hoshi appearance as a normal human being and how he ended up under the bridge with a star for a mask.

Thursday, September 30

Might as well complete Arakawa Under the Bridge tonight. Episode 10: fire drill turned haywire and Kou's dad taking over the river bank. Episode 11: Kou conter-attack. Episode 12: Wish upon a star. The mayor is no longer a kappa and take charge of everything. Heh, I knew who he was immediately. Also, Kou's dad met Nino. Final episode: New character introduction to gear up for season 2 - a samurai barber who wants to kill Sister and we re-met Billy and Jacquelline (parrot and bee) who have a lover's quarrel. Then for the closing scene, we have the amusement park skit. It was an appropriate ending imo. Oh wait there's more! A hercules-looking woman.

Friday, October 1

After a whole day of torture yesterday, Bleach chapter 422 is finally out.

I have started watching Seitokai Yakuindomo and liking it. Episode 1: main characters introduction. Episode 2: New characters: Mutsumi, who wants to open a judo club. At first I thought she wants to confess to Tsuda, and Naruko-sensei who is totally perverted for shouta. Then Tsuda discovered that he is indeed a masochist. Episode 3: Shino went to Kyoto with Aria and got dry humped by a deer. Episode 4: Suzu developed a crush on Tsuda. Shino birthday and she got a vibrator among other things. And I LOVE THE RAIN SCENE. It tells a lot (I'm a sucker for romance but you already know that). Episode 5: Tsuda caught a cold so Shino visited him at home. Naruko tried to rape Tsuda and Shino learn how to use a computer. Episode 6: It's the summer ghost stories. Shino has a hiccup at the end. Episode 7: They went to the beach. Dolphin! and ended up at an inn. Incest is wrong. No fuck it is but I still ship it! Episode 8: Sport festival preparation. The moral committee versus the student council.

I would be the first to participate

Saturday, October 2

I woke up with only one thing in mind. I need to finish Seitokai Yakuindomo ^^". Episode 9: Student Council launched their own newspaper. Sport Festival was finally here. It was good. It just hit me that I probably like this show because I understand the joke. I dunno whether to be elated or sad by that fact. LOL. Episode 10: Mitsuba does in fact has a crush on Tsuda. Cultural Festival day and it end with Tsuda going to the dance with Shino. Episode 11: Winter. Tsuda helping his sister out. Cleaning up the student council office. Christmas vacation. Vibrators XD Episode 12: New Year.Valentine. Tsuda's sister was accepted at the school. Episode 13: Reminiscing? What a waste of an episode :(

Since I'm in the mood, I might as well complete my on-hold anime. I'm gonna start with To Aru Majutsu no Index. Episode 19: I picked a good episode to get me into this show again. Accelerator met Misaka Misaka (Last Order) who is the command center for all the sisters. Amoi has implanted a virus inside Misaka's brain. If they failed to erase it, then the sisters will start killing humans. Only in episode 20 did I realize that I actually have seen these episodes. ~nyoron. But yeah, Accelerator lost his ability to calculate and speaking because he was trying to save Misaka and the girl in the lab coat. Episode 21: The new student Hyoka actually holds the truth to Pentagon Trap. And then this weird tanned girl appeared who resisted an arrest by Kuroko and createrd golemn eyes made of mud. Yeah, mindfuck, right? Episode 21: Touma completely ignored Hime's warning. He and Hyoka were trapped underground. Hyoka totally lost it when she found of what she really is, just a physical phenomenon. Of course Touma won't let her be taken by the bad guy. Touma can be rather annoying something when he acted all righteous and shit like he did in episode 23. For the first time I actually think Index is kinda useful. Wait, I take that back -_-. Episode 24 which supposedly to be the final episode is made of lame. Too much talk and less action. I wish I get to see more Mikoto at the end :( Hopefully in second season I'll get what I wished for.

First Impression: Seitokai Yakuindomo

(c) tomo

It took this long for a first impression is because I was not really planning on watching this show at all but of course, Glo changed my mind. Now all I can think of while I'm at work is I have to watch the show, or at least check out the first episode of the show.

Without further ado, here we go. This show is produced by studios that I never heard of before: GoHands, Starchild Records and Dream Force. I'm not gonna bother and look them up on the internet either. So lets just leave it at that until I decide to compare this series with other anime from other studios.

The show started with Takatoshi Tsuda taking the train full of girls to school. Interestingly, this is the first time I've seen males holding both of their hands up while riding the crammed train so they won't be accused of molesting. Probably that's how they do it in Japan. The shows that I usually watch would have them raping the girls in matter of minutes. LOL

We met the other characters of the show after the OP, particularly the student council president, Shino Amakusa who is the female protagonist for this show. The first thought of her is her seiyuu is perfect for the character. The voice commands authority. Then there's Suzu is small in stature but always saying something that just highlighted her defect. Last but not least, we have Aria who looks and sounds like Inoue Orihime so I think it would take a lot more of her heavy jokes for me to like her. Since these female students deterred Takatoshi, they offered him a place in the student council as Vice President which also makes him Shino's boyfriend and so the adventure begins.

The only thing I didn't like about this episode so far is the OP. The ED however is pretty interesting so it kinda balance I guess.

Aight then, honestly, this episode is made of goodness. I love how everything turned into a sexual-oriented jokes. This was the reason why I decided to watch it in the first place so I shouldn't be surprised but I did. I'm looking forward to see the rest of the episodes.

Art & animation 7/10
Story 9/10
Character 7/10
Sound 7/10
Enjoyment 9/10
Overall 8/10
