Aku no Hana

It has been a while I got this excited for an anime. In fact, I can't remember the last anime that got me all worked out like this. Needless to say, I think Aku no Hana is a very awesome anime. I definitely recommended it to everyone.

A Year Older: Again

It’s that day when I got another level up in life. I’m turning a year older again today. So many things have changed in a course of a year. I read what I wrote on my birthday last year and I almost choked with laughter at how ridiculous everything sounds.

Goodbye 2012 and Hallo 2013

So overall, year 2012 has indeed been kinder to me. I have achieved what I set out to achieve but most importantly, I unexpectedly found love which is easily the highlight of the year for me.

Light Writings: Love II

I need an outlet to express how I feel nowadays. To be honest, things are going too good for me at the moment to the point that I am sort of living in fear for I do not want these extremely good feelings, and the love I have for him to end. If all these are gone tomorrow, there is a big probability that I might lose sanity.

Light Writings: Crush II

Welp, looks like we are having this conversation again after so many years. Well 2 years and 3 months to be exact. The last time I wrote about my crush, I was in a different state of mind where I know it can be nothing more than just that, a crush.

Mononoke

I was first acquainted with Kusuriuri when I saw him in Bakeneko arc (eps. 9-11) in Ayakashi ~ Japanese Classic Horror. When I learned that it will get it own series as a sequel, I made sure that I get hold of it.

You cannot talk about Mononoke if you do not talk about the art. Just like its predecessor, the animators, Toei Animation do not afraid to experiment with the art. It has its own distinct style of animation. It was part of the reason that got me hooked right away. It is very different, in a very good bold and imaginative kinda way. Seriously, it was tantalizing and gorgeously unique! They compensate the two dimensional, almost paper-cut appearance with vibrant and captivating colorful backgrounds, textures and designs. In a sense, it makes you feel like you are part of a very beautiful painting. They definitely used the art to its full potential to present and distinguished the stories. It also used a lot of camera movements to add suspense and with a well control pace it has successfully exact the desired tension.

Mononoke is composed of 5 different stories which are only related to Kusuriuri, the medicine seller, our mysterious protagonist. Each story takes 2-3 episodes which features a different supernatural, more often than not, evil spirit or most commonly known as mononoke. It was up to Kusuriuri (who is a total bishie by the way) to vanquish or exorcise the mononoke. In order to do so, he needs to uncover the Katachi (shape/form), Makoto (truth), and Kotowari (reason) of the spirit. However it isn't always about the dead. Each story delved deep to the heart of everything and it is not surprising when everything that occurred is related to the living.

Kusuriuri is the only constant character in the series. His attraction is definitely lies in his demeanour, which is very unique whichever way you look at it, not to mention mysterious. Very mysterious. Some of his deadpan sarcastic comments will certainly makes you laugh at the oddest of time. He is a character that you could not help but like. In my case, fell in love with. He is one of the unforgettable characters out there.

The other characters vary with each stories but still get a decent development due to the nature of the story despite being 2-3 episodes in length. These characters are not the typical type characters (as in do not expect good looking characters). They were designed with the story in mind and the ingenuity of it in my opinion, worked wonders.

The appropriate sound effects (or lack of it) enhance the whole eerie atmosphere. The silence in most scenes does most of the work to creep you out. The voice actors did a job well done too, especially with those screeches and screams of horror. As for the OP and ED, I don't find it interesting but I guess it fits right in with the weird tune of the whole show.

This is one of the anime that I won't get tired of watching again and again. I give it a 10 for enjoyment.

The enticing, attention-grabbing, well written stories and the excellent directing and editing makes Mononoke a masterpiece. A must watch to all anime lovers/appreciators. If that is not good enough reason for you to pick up this series, maybe a threat to shove a foot up your ass can convince you otherwise?

My Favorite Character List: A

Here I am, going to list my favorite character from every anime that I have completed in alphabetical order. It probably take a while till we get to Z but I sure am happy for at least I have something to post

Glo has written his list as I am sure many other anime bloggers have. Now it is my turn and pretend that someone actually care. I am going to pick only one character from every anime. Though it sounds simple, it wasn't. Writing this favorite character list is going to be stressful indeed and emotional too. Lets dive into it then.

anime: 5cm per second
character: Tohno Takaki
seiyuu: Kenji Mizuhashi

I am all for distant relationship. I know many think that it won't work and perhaps they are right but the thrill just ain't the same. I should know. I was in a distant relationship for 4 years. It would have work too if one of us didn't chicken out. Hence why I picked Takaki as my favorite character from this greatly written movie. Despite their ages and the temptation, he manages to hold on to the promise he and Akari made. I wished my ex would have came by the train to meet me too. That would have been awfully romantic. Oh well... things weren't meant to be *shrugs*

anime: AIKa: Zero
character: Aika Sumeragi
seiyuu: Ami Koshimizu

Oh god, I contemplated whether or not I should include stupid OVAs like this one but I don't want to cheat so it doesn't matter that I dislike this three episodes OVA, I am still going to find a character to pick as my favorite or in this case, a character that I can tolerate. After much deliberation, I have to go with Aika just because she's good with planes. I still am not sure why the fuck did I watch this ecchi OVAs. I should have dropped it when I saw too many panties shot. Orz

anime: Ai no Kusabi (1992)
character: Riki
seiyuu: Toshihiko Seki

I have a thing for dark hair men (you will read contradictory statement later on) so naturally I fell for Riki. It's fun to see him all bonded and what not for Mink (who reminds me of Baka Prince by the way). He's such a turn on. Who cares if he looks like a girl sometimes? Oh god, did I mention that he's so gay?!

anime: Air Gear
character: Kazuma "Kazu" Mikura
seiyuu: Kenn

He is the underdog who was always got bullied by Ikki. I like him the instant I laid my eyes on him. Maybe that snowhat or the way he dresses or simply the fact that he's blonde but he has that certain qualities about him that made him different. He has high regards for girls and unlike Ikki, he has morals. I like the fact that even though he doesn't has natural talent, he pushed himself to become better and eventually the best, one that can rival Ikki.

anime: Aki Sora
character: Nami Aoi
seiyuu: Kana Ueda

Tell me honestly now, who doesn't want to be her? She gets to fuck Kana and then have a threesome with Aki and Sora. Isn't that what every teenage girl dream of? XD

anime: Aku no Hana
character: Nakamura Sawa
seiyuu: Mariya Ise

when she took off  her megane, you best get ready for something evil

I wasn't expecting much from this series and when I first saw the first episode, it was okay until Nakamura Sawa character was introduced. She is not your typical female anime character. Then in episode 2, I was totally hooked. I love her character, every little bit of it; the evil, weird and I-don't-give-a-fuck parts. She somewhat reminds me of myself in a way; planting an evil seed to the mind of innocent shouta. She's awesome and one of the most original character I've seen in anime.

anime: Allison & Lillia
character: Willhelm Schultz
seiyuu: Toshiyuki Morikawa

This is a tough one because all the male protagonists were awesome one way or the other and even Allison is so damn likeable with her personalities. In the end however, I have to choose Will because it takes a real man to handle Allison and he handled her just fine. I also like the fact that he can be so clueless sometimes when it comes to the matter of the heart. That makes him so adorably cute.

anime: Amatsuki
character: Kon Shinonome
seiyuu: Kouji Yusa

FUCK THIS IS HARD! I don't want to choose between Tsuyukusa, Bonten and Kon. All three of them managed to make me wet my pantsu one way or the other but I did promise to pick only one so I go for Kon. He is cool-headed and logical. He lost the used of his arm but it doesn't seem to bother him at all. He took the news and move on, and he actually does better at what he's doing. Goes to show that determination can go a long way. Also, he's a freakingly good cook. Simply put, Kon is my waifu candidate.

anime: Angel Beats!
character: Hinata Hideki
seiyuu: Ryohei Kimura

(c) pixiv ID 290742

This one is easy. I fell for Hinata the first time I laid my eyes on him. Not only he's hot and accessible pairing to almost any of the Brigade members, he is also very funny and gentlemanly. He often gets bullied by Yuri when they are on their missions but he knows where his loyalty lies. I also like the fact that he is such a caring person when he wants to be. Angel Beats 2 should have him as the protagonist. It's the only right route to go. After all, he is the protagonist in the novel prequel "Angel Beats - Track Zero".

anime: Angel's Feather
character: Kyouhei Mitsugi
seiyuu: Tetsuya Kakihara

First of all, let me made clear that this shounen-ai OVA is full of shit so the only way for me to pick my favorite character from this shitfest is by picking the character that I want to fuck the most and that lucky character happens to be Kyouhei, who was Kai fuck buddy. Too bad Kai dumped him in the end to have an incest with his long lost twin brother. Fear not, Kyouhei, Klux is here!

anime: Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai
character: Naruko "Anaru" Anjou
seiyuu: Haruka Tomatsu

(c) Pig 7

It was a toss between Anaru and Yukiatsu. I love them both and actually do want them to happen. I'll be honest though. I have one more episode to go but I can't just seem to get myself to watch it. Ano Hana hits too close to home and I don't think I'm ready to know how it ends yet. Anyhoo, why I like Anaru? Simply because I can see myself in her. I went through the same shit of loving someone who is in love with someone else. She's the most relatable character in Ano Hana for me personally.

anime: Antique Bakery
character: Yusuke Ono
seiyuu: Shinichiro Miki

goddamnit, he's so fuckalicious

He's a patisserie and I love baking. Do the math. Besides, he's gay as fuck and boy he's so damn charming when he wants his man. I want to see Chikage x Ono happens! But above all else, I want to see the live action drama!
edit: I've seen the movie and I don't want Chikage x Ono to happen. I want Tachibana x Ono damn it!

anime: Ao no Exorcist
character: Yukio Okumura
seiyuu: Jun Fukuyama

(c) Pixiv ID 1643580

I am a sucker for a thick-rimmed megane so my heart is set on Yukio ever since I first saw him. But I am not that shallow of a person. Yukio as a character is full of awesomeness. He's responsible and fucking smart but at the same time vulnerable too when it comes to his twin older brother. That sense of vulnerability is what I think completes him and why my heart reaches out to him every single time. Not to mention that he looks fucking hot with them guns in his hands.

anime: Appleseed (2004)
character: Deunan Knute
seiyuu: Romi Paku

I only watched this movie once and I can't say it left me with an impact however I have to admit that Deunan is pretty badass as the protagonist so my vote goes to her. I wish she would stop trying to fuck his now half robot ex though

anime: Arakawa Under the Bridgecharacter: Hoshi
seiyuu: Tomokazu Sugita

(c) mcr

a) he wears a fucking star on his head!
b) he walks around wearing that fucking star on his head!
c) his seiyuu is Tomokazu Sugita for fuck's sake!
d) he actually a smashing good looking guy!
e) he made Ko's life miserable!
f) all the other great and awesome things you can think of!

anime: Ayakashi: Japanese Classic Horror
character: Kusuriuri
seiyuu: Takahiro Sakurai

(c) okazaki takeshi

Another easy pick for me. Between the three horror stories that were featured in this show, the one with the cat is definitely the most memorable story simply because Kusuriuri upstaged everyone else. There is something about Kusuriuri that I can't figure out. His mysteriousness really is one of his best traits after all. He even got his own show 'Mononoke' after that. Goes to show that my taste is impeccable lol

p/s: the list will be updated frequently whenever I completed an anime.

Diary of a tard - week 4, October '09

Sunday, October 18

I tried out Kiddy Girl And- it was made of lame. What can you expect from an anime that has special agents named Twiddledee and Twiddledum? It's a story about two female waitresses: one hyper, one seemingly more matured. They happened to have quite the fighting skills and the rest of the story is kinda predictable, don't you think? I is not entirely sure about this one. It can go either way with me.

*facepalm*

Monday, October 19

Bamboo Blade chapter 84: OMG Ura is totally fangirling over Black Duran. LOL she's worst than Tama!

The Children escapade continue in episode 190 and 191 of Zettai Karen Children when they got attack by a giant thingy thing. That was it -__-.

Tuesday, October 20

We were introduced with a new cool character, Ishizuka, in Bamboo Blade chapter 85. They are recruiting her for the TV show as well. I kinda feel sorry for the uniform thief LOL

Amatsuki chapter 44 is worthy of fangasm. We have all the bishies in one place and finally got to see what happened to Kuchiha. I kinda forgot that she was with her brother Kanzou the whole time and what a loving brother she has. I always wanted a big brother. Being the eldest sucks.
Anyway, so the demons are out to attack the human while the Onmyou Bureau (consist of Kanzou, Benitobi, Kurotobi, Ainezu and Sasaki) is all out against the demon, using Toki's belongings. Dayyum.

My awaited Nendoroid Arawn finally arrived which mean no more manga/anime for the rest of the day ^o^

Wednesday, October 21

Why do I feel like I've seen this week episode (242) of Bleach before? =\

One of my friend asked me "what the fuck is this shit?!" after they finished watching Hyakko OVA. I don't have any valid or legit argument to present to him ^^"

Thursday, October 22

Gintama OVA is the shiznit!!

Chapter 35 of Hyakko is out today after almost 2 months since the last update. OMG new character and he might be Shishimaru's arch enemy. His name is Edo Kumahiko and he and Torako know each other since they live at the same area and went to the same school together. Apparently, despite his delinquent appearance, Kumahiko is very shy with girls. The only girl he can talk to normally is Torako-chan. What follows are the usual hilarious moments spawned from Toraku and Kitsune's geniuses. Eh... Shishimaru is one of the four deities?!

All of these shit because of a bushy eyebrows? Congratulation Saten. You has successfully turned a straight girl into a gay person. Jeebus. Give me real story To Aru Kagaku no Railgun!

OMG one look at Trapeze, I immediately put my stamp of approval on it! like the unconventional animation and the way the story is being told. Lots of mind game it seems. It certainly is attention-grabbing material. I'm ready to get mindfuck by this series.

just take a look at that knockers! Oh Miyami-chan @_@

My brain explodes and splutters on my screen after I read Bleach chapter 379 this week. I want to marry Kuchiki Rukia and make it legal ^o^

Friday, October 23

In Mononoke chapter 8, the spirit of the neko continues to rampage, seeking its revenge after the truth was revealed.

Holy schmoly! The sixth unit of the special force in Dogs - Bullets & Carnage is freaking awesome. And OMG at first I thought Giovanni was killed by Heine because he was shot in the head. I know that they are fighting and all that shit but didn't expect one of them to be dead since they seems immortal. Guess what, I was right. Long live Giovanni!

Saturday, October 24

Gena brought Cheburashka to the zoo in episode 2 of Cheburashka Arere. There, he met Chandre the Lion and learned how to juggle.

Fairy Tail episode 2: What the- I hate censorship! Gray shouldn't be wearing anything, fool and Loke is supposed to be the hottest bishie around! And what a gay ass way to get a Fairy Tail tatoo. OMG phailed animation is phailed... This is like watching KHR...

Yes, this was exactly how I feel watching this shit, Natsu

Gareki in a suit is effing smexy. I think my brain just explodes from sheer fangasm. Karneval chapter 15 this week saw Gareki and Nai helping out with the Circus show. This, of course is Yogi's idea. In the middle of that thing, something came up: a high powered rabbit disappeared (WTF?) that fucked up the play Tsukumo was in. Luckily Nai has great hearing ability and heard her cry for help. Now they are off to Rinoll.

Like I have expected, the giant thingy from the last chapter of Zettai Karen Children was the old pervert Tanizaki. He was too worried about Naomi-chan not to show up. By the way, we have a new team: The Mice consisting of two sibling with the brother having a siscon disease. Next up: test of courage!

Inusyasha episode 2 reminds me why I was such a fan of Kikyo. She is freaking GAR! And Koga is so effing cool too. All the speech... dayyum. No wonder he got the Goraishi without breaking a sweat. Oh and how can I just realized this? Sesshomaru is Byakuya's twin brother! By the way, Kagura is dead.

As for episode 3... a fucking waste of my time. Who the fuck cares about Shippou anyway?! And I suspect that Kagura will be revived soon.

Lag joined the Letter Bee and met with his Dingo, Niche, in episode 3. I can't stop making the "awwwww" sound whenever I saw him so determine to be a Tegami Bachi. This is all thanks to Gauche. But I have a bad feelings. Why doesn't Connor said anything when Lag mentioned Gauche. Did something happened to Gauche? Gah, I need to know!

Hahaha you're the man, Lag

Diary of a tard - week 4, August '09

Monday, August 24

Vampire Knight chapter 53 is out. I'm glad the mangaka explained who Kaito is. For a while I was like... who the fuck is Kaito O_o? He seems cool. I like him right away when he used Wakaba as a sacrificial lamb. kukuku... Thank goodness too that Zero hasn't forgot his resolve to kill Yuki because that girl deserved to be killed after all. Incest WTF is fucking euwww. Whenever the manga swayed to Yuuki and Kaname, I want to puke blood >=(

It has been a while since I last watch Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Episode 16 saw the Elric brothers finding out about Hughes death, Jean is being used by Lust and Mustang getting mad at what he has discovered so far. Not much going on in this episode. I guess they want us to savor the moment of sadness but I have already cried my eyes out when Hughes was murdered.

Keroro Gunsou is back on Animax, now in season 2. Not much LOL factor in episode 1 but it's good to see them frogs again. Tamama remains my fav.

Tuesday, August 25

Too busy flapping to my latest figure, White Hollow Ichigo SDCC Limited Edition to bother with manga or anime XD

Wednesday, August 26

I can't believe I forgot about Ultimo. Thanks to Nate, I pick it up once again. Yamato is unexpectedly funny which is such a nice surprise. He add a lot of humor to balance out the seriousness and the fighting in the manga. Review can be found here.

Bleach episode 234 is phailed albeit just a tad T__T

Pick up yet another seinen manga -__-". This one called Livingstone. One look at the spread, I know I must read it. Review will be coming soon.

Thursday, August 27

Happy Birthday Lia!

Yikes, I'm way behind with my weekly anime =\

Phosphorous is the missing element in Element Hunters episode 7. Well let see... Homi gets all emo about his dead grandad, Chiara gets tentacle rape treatment and Ren was being Ren (I love his dialect btw). The QEX this time around uses the kids' fear against themselves so Homi have to face his fear and be hero of the day. I am not sure why I want to watch this. I sucks at chemical to begin with. I wish we had this show when I was taking my SPM -__-"

I really enjoy watching Tokyo Magnitude 8.o episode 7. The situation between Kento, Yuuki and Mirai when they were observing the robots reminds me of the same situation that I'd encountered numerous times, but instead of with robots, its with either manga/anime/figures. I get angry just like Kento when Mirai belittled the robots. Hearing Mirai calling Kento a robot otaku kinda hit close to home. But of course, I don't have that noble notion of creating a manga or publish an anime that can rescue people or whatever. hehe. I really look forward to see Kento again. I hope he does shows up in the future episode. This episode has everything: excitement, suspense, heart warming moments and a cliffie too! Besides episode 5, this gotta be one of my fav episodes so far.

Friday, August 28

Naruto
chapter 461 saw Sasgay charging the Raikage head on, only to be saved by his comrades when his ass was about to be kicked. Sasgay being Saucegay, he believe he doesn't need any help. Of course he didn't need any help. Naruto is all about him. He'll win even with someone's dick (I bet Naruto's) inside his ass. Thank goodness this chapter is ain't all about him though. Gaara schooling the old fart is a moment to be cherished. Ah the wise, Gaara. I love him. He made all of these Sasgay shit bearable.

The Phantom Daughter is made of phailed. LOL. Zettai Karen Children chapter 185 saw her trying to make sure that the Children will have enough time finishing their mission for Kouru's birthday so she helped them out. In doing so, her fourth personality emerged.... and to be continued -__-"

Sleepyfans is late with Bleach chapter 371 today. stupid-biased-dumbfuck grr... and when it was released, I feel a tad disappointed. I have mixed feelings about the chapter. I got nosebleed from seeing Gin and Soul Society Aizen but kinda pissed that Barragan gets a backstory and Ulquiorra didn't. Gah!!

Saturday, August 29

I'm not a cat person but I feel sorry for the cats in Mononoke chapter 7. The old bugger deserved to be eaten by the mononoke. Served him right. *nods*
