Aku no Hana

It has been a while I got this excited for an anime. In fact, I can't remember the last anime that got me all worked out like this. Needless to say, I think Aku no Hana is a very awesome anime. I definitely recommended it to everyone.

A Year Older: Again

It’s that day when I got another level up in life. I’m turning a year older again today. So many things have changed in a course of a year. I read what I wrote on my birthday last year and I almost choked with laughter at how ridiculous everything sounds.

Goodbye 2012 and Hallo 2013

So overall, year 2012 has indeed been kinder to me. I have achieved what I set out to achieve but most importantly, I unexpectedly found love which is easily the highlight of the year for me.

Light Writings: Love II

I need an outlet to express how I feel nowadays. To be honest, things are going too good for me at the moment to the point that I am sort of living in fear for I do not want these extremely good feelings, and the love I have for him to end. If all these are gone tomorrow, there is a big probability that I might lose sanity.

Light Writings: Crush II

Welp, looks like we are having this conversation again after so many years. Well 2 years and 3 months to be exact. The last time I wrote about my crush, I was in a different state of mind where I know it can be nothing more than just that, a crush.

Diary of a tard: Week 1, April 2011

Monday, April 4

Watching the first anime of Spring 2011. I chose Fireball Charming to be the first because it only took 2 minutes of my time.

Tuesday, April 5

Episode 10 of Fractale: Sunda learned that Phryne has gone back to the temple. I applauded Sunda when he punched Clain in the face. The audacity of him calling Sunda a murderer. I would have killed him myself! Dias overheard the whole conversation and offered to be the decoy. Obviously he has other plan in his twisted mind. In fact, he has a Fractale terminal as his pet and he is going to eliminate Phryne using Nessa. Cunning son of a bitch. But really, all these drama about Phryne really got on my fucking nerves.

Fractale final episode: It started out with the perverted father telling Clain the secret of Fractale System. Apparently the others before him miscalculated. They thought the God is inside the 10 year old Nessa when in fact it's in the 16 year old Phryne. Seriously, I was disturbed with all these shits. I don't blamed Clain for getting freaked out as well. At the same time, the battle was getting intense. Other families (except Danan) have turned back, leaving Alabaster to fend for themselves. Dias decided to blow up the temple with him in it. Sunda won't let him go that easy though but it was too late. Dias blew up together with the Grand Priestess and Sunda got shot in the process. I will rage if Sunda dies. Phryne on the other hand being a jackass again. FUCK SHE NEEDS TO FUCKING DIE ALREADY! Conclusion to the story:
  • fractale will never be rebooted again
  • Sunda died TT____TT
  • Phryne ended up with Nessa's personality and fucking live! *RAGE!!!*
  • Clain goes back with his old life, with Phryne by his side *DAMN IT*
I bawled

You can read the full review of Fractale here.

Wednesday, April 6

I expected shit and I got shit but having said that, I ended up enjoying Tiger & Bunny first episode.

Thursday, April 7

Just another boring chapter of Bleach :(

Friday, April 8

I was really dreading Madhouse latest adaptation of American Comic but X-Men turned out pretty great. I am very pleased indeed.

Watching Gintama episode 139 because I need a good laugh. Gin met with a pickpocket (a kid) who has interest with the top courtesan. Seita thinks she's his mother. He ended up working for Otose-san. Oh? This is the episode where Tsukuyo made her debut! Obviously Gin encountered her when he came looking for the most powerful man in Yoshiwara named Hosen.

yes, this is Shinpachi

Obviously I can't stopped watching so I continue with episode 140. Gin pretending not to get stabbed was one of the funniest opening gag in Gintama. I freaking love it. I guess he was trying to impress Tsukuyo who went along with his shit. LOL. Turns out she's a good girl but of course Gin, Kagura and Shinpachi won't have it easy getting out of that place. This is where Kamui made his debut. I'm fucking stoke! He's merciless. Damn I love him already. (p/s: he's one of the Harusame crew - the space pirates and Hosen is actually the king of Yato. WTF!) Fuck I need to continue.

Episode 141 of Gintama: Kamui fucking called for a mutiny! Hah but he quickly lost interest when he found out that Hosen is nothing now but an empty shell. Sure he's still strong but he became too attached with the place. Kamui only interested with the strongest. Noted that he fights with a smile on his face. Reminds me a lot of Ichimaru Gin. May he rest in peace.

The many different expression of Kamui, all with intent to kill

Gintama episode 142: Next up is Kagura fight with Obato. This is the first time ever I saw her as an adult. So is Sinpachi. Yato's fight is always entertaining. She even got her arm broken and Sinpachi almost died. Almost killing Sinpachi was a bad choice though because that awakens the Yato blood in her. She was freaking awesome and I have no doubt that she's Kamui's match. Meanwhile, Kamui is busy looking for Seita's mom. So is Gin. They are bound to meet halfway through.

psycho kagura is great. She should come out more often

And so they did in episode 143 of Gintama. I love Gin's entrance. He's so cool like that. He is not only facing Kamui but Hosen as well. This should be good. and it turns out to be so god damn nerves wrecking. That's how intense it was.

So there's no way for me to stop just there. Episode 144 of Gintama: Nothing much happening though. Gin lives and the fight continue. Shits get real.

Gintama episode 145: LOL even in the middle of arc, the show still managed to troll us for 4 minutes. When the arc resumes, Gin was on fire but Hosen is still way to strong. However, Kamui was impressed which mean, Gin has to fight him sooner or later. SWEET! In the nick of time, Seita opened up the ceiling at let the sun shone. Hosen is getting his tan.

p/s: look at me messing up the grammars, tenses and everything else. Forgive me, I don't proof read my post and its nearly 4am. I need sleep.

Fractale

I have high hopes for Fractale but with each passing episodes, I feel the hopes dwindling to nothingness. The only reason I watched from week to week was because of Sunda but they fucking killed him in the last episodes.

Everyone, meet the late Sunda and Enri Granitz

The story itself was what made this show lacking. It evolved around Phryne, Clain and Nessa and it shouldn't be so. Phryne and Nessa are the key to reboot the Fractale system. If Phryne didn't ran away and be a jackass about it, people won't have to die unnecessarily. Though she is (literally) a slut it is still no excuse for her to be so fickle about every damn thing. If she agreed from the very beginning to be the key and didn't change her mind every god damn 4 seconds, then the Temple will not declare wars on Lost Millenium (they are the one who are against the Fractale System - but not really). Sunda and Dias wouldn't have died.

As you can see, I'm very pissed right now and rightfully so. I am filled with rage when Clain ended up having a happily ever after ending with Phryne (with Nessa's personality). Damn these kids.

I can't believe I said some really nice things about her in my first impression post. 10 episodes later I have nothing but hate for her.

Characters wise, they are not lacking in term of personalities (except for the plain Clain). The character designs also helped built each characters' personalities while the voice actors compliment those characters, giving them souls. Thanks to her splendid performance as Nessa, I think I am a fan of Kana Hanazawa now. Credits for Yu Kobayashi as well for her job well done as Clain though I still wonder why didn't they pick a guy for the job.

The OP/ED, BGM and sound effects for this show is highly commendable. Both the OP and ED are sang by Hitomi Azuma. There are three songs featured in the single CD titled Harinezumi but I never heard the other one. Like I said, towards the end of the show, the OP grew on me and I can even sing along to it. Having said that, my favorite remains with the ED despite the poor Engrish pronunciation.

If there is one thing that blow me away regarding this show, it's the art and animation of the whole thing. I mentioned this several time during in episodic reviews. A-1 Pictures is really good at delivering these sort of stuff. Some of the scenes looks like they came from a beautiful painting, and the camera angle for certain scenes really stood out. Kudos to the animation production team. It was splendid.

But sadly, for a show that is featured in noitaminA, it certainly didn't live up to expectation. I am not entirely sure whose fault is it but if the story didn't evolved around Phryne, it could have ended up as a fabulous show. This show pretended to be deep when it's not. Yamakan totally lost the plot. I rage at how conceded it turned out to be.

arts & animation 10/10
story 7/10
characters 9/10
sound 8/10
enjoyment 6/10
overall 7/10

Fractale: Episode 8 and 9

I am going to dedicate this week to Star Driver, Fractale and Level E. I will try to catch up and if I have more time to spare then I’ll play catch up with the older shows as well.

I’m going to start the week with Fractale episode 8. Clain and Phryne were captured. The ugly dude who captured them turned out to be Phryne’s father. Not her real father but like a priest at the Temple. A perverted one at that. I would have never guessed that these two were fuck buddies. Fuck, that makes me wanna puke. Those who think that Phryne is holier than thou must be weeping at the moment. No wonder she has no qualm getting naked in public. She might be unwilling victim or she did it because she wants to save Clain but that doesn’t change the fact that she was a slut, like all the Phryne before and after her will be. Yep, she’s not special. Remember the kid who looks like Nessa? Her name is Phryne too and there are several rooms more filled with Phryne. They are all considered as the key.

translated: "Let me fuck you"

See what I mean?

So thanks to Phryne, Clain was saved. While he’s recuperating, he met the other Phryne and found out that Phryne is actually Nessa as a grown up. (Are you confused yet? LOL)

In the mean time, Sunda is ready to attack the Temple because it seems like Nessa has gone to where Clain is. Dias offered a helping hand.

Nessa was obviously pissed that they hurt her precious Clain so she went to the temple looking for him and by sheer luck found him. With the help of slut Phryne, they got away only to end up at the Phryne disposal center where they dispose the defect and rejected Phryne. Dramatic scene followed where Clain tried to save the Phrynes. Of course before he managed to do that, the perverted father once again captured Phrynes.

At the same time, Sunda and Dias came to the rescue. As expected, Dias just does whatever he likes. He didn’t really understand what a rescue mission is and go on attacking the temple, obliterated almost everything (the pervert is miraculously alive though). That's my kind of guy but I like the responsible Sunda too so all fair.

That's my guy ^_^

And that’s the end of episode 8. Clain is one lucky motherfucker. He survived the fatal gunshot and the bombing all in one episode. I guess he is not allowed to die. Not when the slut Phryne has pretty much confessed to him.

In episode 9, the temple declared war with the Lost Millenium which means everyone in Fractale is allowed to kill the members of the Lost Millenium. The temple played dirty, destroying the village where innocent civilians are. I’ll be pissed too if I was Sunda especially when Dias unexpectedly revealed to the rest of the leader that Sunda has both keys for the reboot. Shit.

hawtness

I can’t be mad at Dias either. His reasoning is solid but it’s inhuman. So they’ll go all out against the Temple as well. Wouldn’t killing Nessa and Phryne is much easier? LOL sorry sorry.

Sunda decided to leave Nessa and Phryne in the village under Clain’ care. Big mistake I think because either the pervert or Dias will be looking for them. They are much safer on the ship. But whatever. I’m more worried about the Granitz at the moment. My heart sank when they took the family picture because eventually some will never come back alive *sobs*

Phryne left while Clain and Nessa were sleeping. That’s good. She is making sure that Nessa and she are not too close that they can become one. That will reboot the fucking system. Obviously Clain will whine and go looking for her, fucking up all the other plans.

Yes. I’m fucking mad right now.

On the side note, I love the camera angle in episode 8, or perhaps in every other episode. I might just notice it now. Awesome.

So English is the universal language in Fractale and yet the speak Japanese

Diary of a tard: Week 3, March 2011

Monday, March 14

Fractale episode 6: the ship has landed and there's someone else like Sunda who is in charge. His name is Dias and he's a bishie. He' the leader of Alabaster, another faction of the Lost Millenium. I feel like this faction has some hidden agenda going on. Turned out Dias is a cold blooded murderer. It just made him cooler if you asked me. LOL. On the other hand Clain is interested with an old pervert. He was invited to see something good so he left his night watch post to meet him. Phryne tagged along. The old man showed the ideal Fractale town and this is where he learned about the Alabaster's cruelty. I think the old pervert is Clain's dad if the photographs Phryne stole were any proof.

This is Dias

Episode 9 of Level E: Princess Saki didn't give up. So what if Mikihisa is a girl? She just needs to turn him into a man. Craft has been deceived by the Macbac species. Thank goodness Ki is back. With his help, they created a clone of Mikihisa so that human species will be saved and Saki got what she wanted. I like the end of the episodes where the narrator said that it is us, humans, who will bring destruction to this earth. That's the fucking truth.

Wednesday, March 16

Fractale episode 7: Clain and Nessa ventured out on a smaller ship since he was excited with his new camera. In the middle of the flight Nessa wasn’t feeling so well (she’s being hacked) thus affected the system of the ship. They crashed. He ended up at Xanadu, the perfect Fractale city. He was found by a whore doppel who brought him to where Nessa is. Clain did not know that he and Nessa were in the “wanted” list. In the mean time, the Phryne and few others were looking for him too and found out that Xanadu is really corrupted. The whore planted a virus that fucked the Fractale terminal in Clain which caused him a lot of pain. Of course that will only pissed off Nessa and for the first time we got to see her power. She pretty much cleaned up Xanadu leaving it as a barren city. This made one of the doppel extremely unhappy. To protect his way of life, he fucking shot Clain. At the same time, the church has found Phryne. Shit going to hit the fan soon. Watching this episode makes me think. Even now there are people who are against technology where at the same time there are people who can’t live without them. The situation is similar so it should hit a nerve somewhere.

Friday, March 18

The start of episode 10 of Level E shows promise because it was all serious and shit but who am I kidding. This is Level E after all. The mermaid, who can tell when people is lying to her and killed them with her tongue, was in trouble. She met with the color rangers who helped her get out of her pinch. The episode itself was insignificant but I have to give credits to the production team. The quality of the animation was top notch. They certainly didn’t take any shortcut for this one.

Diary of a tard: Week 4, February 2011

Monday, February 21

Lucky☆Star episode 10: Kagami taught her sister how to used the handphone. Miyuki got a cold and went to clinic. She was so engrossed in her reading, she missed it when her number was called. Same thing happened when she got on a bus. She needs to pay more attention to her surrounding. Then they had a sleep over at Konata's house. Btw, I found it really hard to write a consistent review for this show.

She is so moe

Episode 3 of Kore wa Zombie desu ka?: Aikawa tried so hard not to let Orito knows that he is living with a three bishoujo. Obviously he will phailed. Halfway through they decided to get serious so Orito brought Aikawa to the hospital to visit Kyoko, another victim of the serial killer. She described the killer to Aikawa and it matches Hellscythe. Dum dum dum...

phailed

I want more laughter so I decided to watch Mitsudomoe episode 9: They are still on Gachi and there are still misunderstanding about Gachi and sex/porn and as always the teacher is in the middle of the shit. LOL I would have been traumatized if I was Yabecchi. On the next mini episode, Hitoha became a Santa and I was rolling off my chair laughing when she tried to get out of the room. Futaba is really awesome though when she becomes the ball for the ice bowling.

and that's how she came ^_^

Slowly but surely, Nurarihyon no Mago episode 5: Rikuo got a fever and the conflict about him being the third heir continues. So does his life as a student. His friends came over for a visit and we got a love triangle going on between Ienaga, Rikuo and Yuki Onna. I found this extremely cute especially when Yuki was flustered and shit. Rikuo and his paranormal crazy friends then went on a field trip to Umerakuen where Gyuki resides. The youkai traitor overheard the plan and set to kill Rikuo (again). Btw, I’m intrigued with the Crow Demon’s sons. I bet they are good looking. LOL

Episode 6 of Nurarihyon no Mago: The professor they met at Umerakuen was a troll. It was all a set up to kill Rikuo. I am glad that I can’t see spirits otherwise it would have been some scary shits. For example, those youkai at the onsen creep me out. However I refuse to believe that Horsehead and Oxhead are bad youkai. They are too good looking to be the bad guy. Of course my opinion will change if they end up getting killed instead. For now I take the “innocent until proven guilty” route. Sure they attacked Yuki Onna but that’s all Gyuki’s fault. Oh fuck, alright. So they are bad after all >>

Can’t stop now where it’s getting good. Finally Rikou is fighting as himself in episode 7 of Nurarihyon no Mago. Well, at least he did good trying to protect Yuki before the smexy Rikuo took over. Oh yeah, don’t forget about Kana. I really don’t like her character’s personality. It got all the ingredients of hate. I refused to accept her as the canon pairing for Rikuo. Btw, I learned that Zen’s seiyuu is Sugita ^_^ also I take back my words about the Crow Demon’s son. They look like… well… crow! *facepalm*

So hawt

Tuesday, February 22

Ookiku Furikabutte: Natsu no Taikai Hen episode 6: Abe agreed for a practice game with one of their opponents. He has also decided Mihashi training routine for him: no throwing unless he says so. Mihashi just happy that they are finally communicating. No denying the canon between these two. While others considered Abe as meddlesome, Mihashi took it that he cares about him. It was so obvious. They are going against Kounan and those boys have been practicing hard. The coach looks like he has something up his sleeves. Or was that the Touhei's boys? I'm confused =\

Oh Tajima, you are so made of win =D

Wednesday, February 23

I plan to watch as many episodes of Shangri-La today but before that I have to get the anime of the current season over with. I'll start with episode 7 of Level E: While the Color Rangers continue their adventures, the alien teacher is getting worried about the kids who at that moment need to save Princess Baka from the Demon Lord. But he did agree to go with the Demon Lord and thus we got to see their wedding night preparation. I wish I was spared though. The Demon Lord turned out to be good person who wants to defeat Ki as well and thus they found truce and end the trolling. That doesn't stop Ki getting his way in the end though.

Next up if Fractale episode 5: Clain is force to work to earn his place on the ship. Apparently Nessa is on board too but Clain can't see her for some reason. Could be that she hates him now but I doubt it. During the flight, something was wrong and the temperature inside the ship keeps on rising and the autopilot malfunctioned. No one could solved the problem so Clain steps in (without permission of course) and determined that Nessa was the cause. They ended up playing hide and seek with her. Phryne still being bitchy though and the Temple has finally found her and knows about Nessa as well. Good news is her relationship with Nessa as improved and it seems like everyone is having fun on the ship.

loincloth of the century

Soul Eater Not! chapter 2: Tsugumi, Anya and Meme went to the girls dorm where they meet with few other interesting characters: Kana the fortune teller, Misery the book nerd and Kim the witch. Wasted and useless chapter >>

They all kinda look the same, no?

As I promised myself yesterday, I am gonna start watching as many Shangri-La episodes as I can today. Resuming episode 5: Kuniko found Kunihito at that run down place and decided to investigate. It is suspicious to have a soldier at such place after all. Kuniko then was transferred into the computer world when she sought help from the three old geeks. She found out about Serpent as she's spying on some advance CPU. She also accidentally met Karin from Ishida Finance there. Then there's a crazy mental bitch Sayako who works for Atlas and cutting people up for fun who appeared randomly. Kuniko managed to steal the mimic armor from Kunihito during their "date". At the end of the episode, Karin is threatening the Minister.

Episode 6: Karin offered to destroy the Serpent. Kunihito decided to quit the military because of his negligence in the last episode but got rejected. Instead he was invited to the Moon Palace because Mikuni has taken an interest in him. Looks like there is someone in Atlas who is secretly protecting him. Sayako is confused as to how Kunihito has the same sword as Mikuni. Supposedly he and Mikuni should not meet because it clearly upset Hiruko, another crazy ass bitch. It has something to do with Mikuni being the moon, Kunihito the land and Kuniko the sun. Speaking of Kuniko, she helped to pin-point where the Serpent is hiding but then there's MEDUSA.

Episode 7: Kuniko got arrested by Ryoko. Tomoka followed suit which in my opinion will only further burdened Kuniko. She was being bullied for real and seems like Ryoko likes her too much, she will execute her.

Episode 8: It was the execution day but of course Kuniko managed to escape but those who helped her got shot and killed. She didn't know about this though. Also, Mikuni finally managed to go to the real world because of the eclipse and looks like she's going to meet with Kuniko for the first time. I was happy to know that Kunihiko was pretty bothered by Kuniko executions too.

Episode 9: Momoko-san was captured by the saddist Sayoko. May God have mercy on his transsexual soul. I feel like Ryoko is the really bad guy here. She's haywire. Not a good timing though since Kuniko kinda lost without Momoko and when she found out about Rena, Nao and the others, she lost it completely.

Episode 10: After few days of moping, Kuniko decided to take charge again and officially becomes the leader of Metal Age while Ryoko becomes the Prime Minister of Atlas. Mikuni the first to heard voices in her head and this marks the beginning of a new adventure. Unfortunately, it all goes according to Ryoko's plan.

Episode 11: Kunihito is stranded in a small boat in the middle of the ocean. His ship was attacked by the satellite. No one has idea who caused it. There's this strange boy that appeared in his dream and later on in front of Karin. He is Digma Zero also known as Canary. He's dead according to the files. By the way, the Sun, the Moon and the Land is also known as Digma-1, Digma-2 and Digma-3 respectively. I figured they are experimental child. I wonder what their true purpose is.

Friday, February 25

Shinryaku! Ika Musume episode 6: Noh Mask Rider came to town but Ika managed to make her looks like the bad guy when she was fighting with the Squi-Devil. She even wear the costume herself and fought Noh Mask Rider. Guess who came forth? The older sister so obviously Ika will lost. In the second stint, turned out Ika is really good with Math so Eiko is trying to learn the tricks from her. Lastly, Ika threatened Nagisa as usual. She was trying to stop Gorou from ruining the only person who's afraid of her. Nagisa thought that everyone has been brainwashed by Ika, Eiko thought Nagisa likes Gorou and so on. Haywire.

Indeed

Diary of a tard: Week 1, February 2011

Sunday, January 30

I decided to pick anime at random and somehow I ended up with K-ON!! Whatever. Might as well. Episode 12: It's the summer. Yui suggested training camp and everyone agreed except for Mio but majority wins. They decided to go to the Summer Festival in the mountain. This is the first time that I feel the show is really about music. It's good to see the girls got excited at the festival. The ending was shit though. There's no way After School Tea Time is better than the pros. Not at their level >>

Not really in the mood for Kore wa Zombie desu ka but since today is the letter "K" day, I don't have much of a choice. Besides, I know I enjoyed the first episode because of the random goodness. Episode 2: Seraphim made her debut. The fight between her and Aikawa was pretty nice. Now she'll be living in his house too. We also got to see how Aikawa first met Yuu. The shit was pretty funny especially when he started breakdancing. It was the same night that he got killed while he tried to save someone. Yuu seems to have taken a liking with Aikawa. She even slapped Haruna when she jokingly said "go die!" to Aikawa . Btw, why is Haruna walking around flashing her pantsu? and the art style reminds me of Angel Beats!

Wednesday, February 2

Catching up on Fractale but only on episode 3: instead of getting frustrated with the situation they are in, Clain was excited because Enri brought him and Nessa to a place he has never been to before. Enri's plan has obviously backfired. Apparently people like Enri can't see doppel so they have to wear special goggle to see Nessa. If they don't like her, they can't touch her. Enri brought them to her brother. They are anti-Fractale, terrorist according to Clain, and called themselves the Lost Millenium. All they want is Nessa really because they assumed she has all the data regarding doppel, which they want to eliminate completely together with the Fractale System. They challenged Clain's view on freedom. Even though they are hostages, the Granitz villagers are still so nice to them. They even brought Clain to crash on the Star Festival organized by the Temple where Clain learned that the purpose of the festival is to brainwash everyone. They interrupted the ritual but found two Nessa. Some were killed including Butcher. It was serious shit until Phryne showed up.

Sunda reminds me of Kittan ^_^

Happy Birthday KyuHyun oppa ♥

Level E episode 4: Gotta love the set up they created at the early part of the episode. That was some serious business there and I noticed the different style of art is present too. Man, I'm really liking this show so far. Four guys saw a man devour their classmate. They investigated and one of them disappeared the next day and the day afrer. So they seek help from a dubious doctor but he did his job. They found out the culprit is from the planet Conwell where the men eat the women they love to produce a child of their own. Pretty thrilling stuff if I might say so. And guess what, this whole story is fabricated by Ki. Oh man, I've been trolled twice today. First with Kubo and now this. But I don't mind this one though because it's good XD

Saturday, February 5

On to Fractale episode 4: Lost Millenium plan changed when Phryne appeared. Now they want to kidnap her as well since she's the 'key to the world'. Big mistake since now the Temple is going to suppress the Granitz family. So now they are going away because they don't want to trouble the other villagers. Before they could, the Temple has attacked the village. Phryne escaped only to be saved by the Granitz family yet again, same with Clain who tried the same thing. Even after all he has witness, the stupid Clain thinks that the Lost Millenium are the bad guys. He even left Nessa behind since she doesn't like Phryne much. I wonder why...

The Granitz family picture

I think I just came ^_^

Fractale: Episode 2

So Nessa apparently is the key to the world and this confirms that Phryne is definitely not from Clain's world. I am still waiting for further explanation though. It seems like Phryne is like a princess or something since all the servants were frantically looking for her.

This is the episode where Nessa is introduced to the public. I must say, she gives me a good first impression. I love how energetic she is and I'm showing interest to her seiyuu, which is not common in my case since I usually don't pay any attention to female seiyuu. Kana Hanazawa is perfect as Nessa.

Speaking of Nessa, she seems to have some sorts of power. Err duh, since she is the key of the world after all. Halfway through the episode, Clain left her to the securities to be taken care of. At this point apparently Clain cannot touch Nessa anymore. She has become some sort of like a doppel to him. Don't worry though. Before the end of the episode he takes Nessa back (or rather she found him) as he realized what the Fractale system truly is. All the prayers and such are just for collecting their data. Clain doesn't want to be alone anymore.

Well, this is a fast pace episode. Oh well...

Remember the freckled girl with her two sidekicks? Her name is Enri. She's back for revenge and thus Clain is once again forced or being dragged into another misadventure. She worked for her brother who I must say not looking too shabby. I kinda like him right away. He only interrogated (if you can call it that) Clain for a few minute before he lets him go. Of course, Enri with her two dumb sidekicks will have him stalked only to catch him again, this time with Nessa.

Let's take this sentence and make it out of context >=D

Also, I stand corrected at this point. Phryne is not a princess but a priestess.

Fractale touches upon very good issue I think. We always thought that we are tied down with so many things as human being: family, home, etc and wish to be freed from such burdensome relation. However, in Fractale system, nobody is tied down. To the people of Fractale, being in a same place with real people means they don't trust each other which is why Clain's parent don't live with him. We can see how lonely they are though even if they don't realized this themselves. I love the contradiction of opinions that this show presents. It kinda similar to what I felt when I was a hikikomori.

just looks at that. Gorgeous!

Once again Fractale blew me away with the beautiful background and fine details in the animation. Thank you A-1 Pictures. Thank you.

First Impression: Fractale

After all the crappy shit I've watched this season, I was really looking forward to Fractale because of two reasons. Reason number is because this show is produced by A-1 Pictures. In case you are dumb, A-1 Pictures is my favorite studio production when it comes to anime. The second reason is because this show is featured in noitaminA slot that only aired quality anime.

As to what the story is about, I have no clue whatsoever so I was taken aback when I saw aliens (I learned afterward that they are called doppel. Must be a derivation from doppelganger) talking to Clain. I thought that that was his imagination. I was surprised, pleasantly so. It's different and unexpected. That is definitely something that makes me intrigued. Different is good when it's done right.

Apparently Fractale is a man-made system of the 22nd century where there's no war. People don't need to work as they received equal and basic income. This to make them content and live comfortably. Clain is pretty much one of the content people of Fractale until he met Phryne. She came and was gone from Clain's life in an instant but left quite an impact on him which is why Clain decided to set out looking for her. His only clue is the charm she left behind that turned out to be Nessa.

The story is definitely unique, just like the characters. Well, Clain is pretty plain but the other characters make up for what he's lacking. Phryne is adventurous, Nessa is undetermined while the freckled face girl with her two sidekicks provide unsuspected comedy. The characters in Fractale do not lack in personalities.

Somehow Fractale reminds me of Ghibli's movies. I got mixed vibes of Howl's Moving Castle, Nausicaa the Valley of the Wind and Laputa. I felt strongly about it when Phryne debuted in that flying gears of hers.

Yutaka Yamamoto has done a good job directing this one. I might be biased since he directed Kannagi and certain episodes of Haruhi Suzumiya and Lucky Star among many others but yes, he sure has quality. I love the camera angle on certain scenes (like when Phryne was riding the flying gears and looking down at Clain) and the overall fluid feel of the animation. Credits to the production team as well. Some scenes looks like it comes from a painting. In terms of character designs, it's definitely has that feeling of not from this world. It sort of like we are watching something from an alternate world. It has that oldskool charisma about it which was why I compared it with the Ghibli's movies. Having said that, I do think that it looks different from the manga. It doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing though because in this case, I actually they looks better animated.

ain't that pretty?

I love the psychedelic feel of the OP. Not sure about the OP itself though but given time I'm sure it will grow on me. It's different with the ED though because I like it right away. It gives this medieval vibe that got me hooked. The BGM is nice as well. It certainly plays it roles to set up the mood. Excellent. As for the seiyuu, I'm not sure why they picked Yuu Kobayashi to voice Clain because sometimes it made me forget that Clain is a boy. Maybe they wanted that adolescence effect on him. If that's true, then it kinda make sense. Minami Tsuda was good as Phryne but it wasn't an outstanding performance. Not yet anyway.

So needless to say, I enjoyed this show fucking lots. A-1 Pictures did it again :3
